Job Description

Director, Digital Experience

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Digital Experience based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape the digital experience across a large-scale, global web ecosystem.
You will define experience strategy, customer journeys, interaction models, navigation, and digital standards across multiple properties.
The role connects user research, content structure, design systems, analytics, experimentation, and business strategy.
You will partner with executive and cross-functional leaders to turn customer insights and performance data into measurable business outcomes.
As a player-coach, you will develop a high-performing team while coordinating agencies, contractors, and strategic partners.
You will also help modernize digital operations through scalable platforms, experimentation, accessibility, localization, and AI-enabled workflows.
This remote role is designed for an experienced digital leader who thrives in complex, global environments and enjoys building systems that scale.

Accountabilities
  • Own the overall experience layer across the organization's website and global digital properties, establishing customer journeys, interaction models, navigation principles, page standards, and a long-term experience roadmap.
  • Lead user research and discovery through interviews, surveys, usability testing, competitive analysis, journey mapping, and persona development, translating insights into practical user flows and content structures.
  • Build, maintain, and govern a scalable UI Kit or design system, partnering with creative and brand stakeholders to turn visual direction into documented components, patterns, and interaction standards.
  • Drive continuous digital improvement by combining qualitative research with analytics, heat maps, funnel performance, and A/B testing to identify friction and connect experience decisions to conversion, pipeline, and other business outcomes.
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to prioritize digital investments, define strategic initiatives, and communicate experience strategies and results in clear business terms.
  • Coordinate closely with creative, content, web development, operations, technology, and other teams to ensure digital capabilities and elevated customer experiences are delivered consistently at scale.
  • Lead and develop the digital experience team while strengthening business acumen, design and research capabilities, and operational excellence.
  • Manage relationships with agencies, contractors, and strategic partners supporting experience initiatives.
  • Establish governance around accessibility, content freshness, localization, search relevance, personalization, experimentation, and digital quality.
  • Leverage enterprise platforms and modern technologies to improve digital operations, including content management, analytics, testing, prototyping, publishing, and marketing technology solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to apply artificial intelligence to research synthesis, content and experience production, quality assurance, and other workflows.
  • Contribute to broader digital transformation initiatives and ensure the experience function remains aligned with evolving customer expectations and organizational priorities.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in user experience, digital experience, or a closely related discipline, including at least 5 years of people leadership experience.
  • Proven experience owning or leading a large-scale, multilingual corporate website or global digital ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect customer experience and journey design initiatives to measurable commercial outcomes, such as conversion, pipeline, engagement, or revenue.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise content management, design and prototyping tools, web analytics, experimentation platforms, and digital optimization practices.
  • Experience creating and governing a UI Kit, design system, or comparable design framework in partnership with brand or creative teams and driving adoption across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with platforms and tools such as Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Target, Google Analytics 4, Adobe Customer Journey Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, UserTesting, Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards, particularly WCAG, with experience incorporating accessibility into the delivery process rather than treating it solely as a post-production audit.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, content strategy, service design, journey mapping, personalization, search optimization, conversion rate optimization, and digital governance.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority and balancing competing priorities across a complex, globally distributed organization.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated experience concepts into clear business recommendations.
  • Strong analytical thinking and a data-driven approach to prioritization, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading and mentoring high-performing teams while remaining close enough to the work to provide strategic and practical guidance.
  • Experience in enterprise B2B technology, software, cybersecurity, or another complex technology environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud, particularly Experience Manager and Target, is advantageous.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams, multilingual content, and multi-region localization is preferred.
  • Practical experience using AI to accelerate research, production, synthesis, quality assurance, or other digital experience workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment, demonstrate strong ownership, and make sound decisions amid ambiguity and change.
Benefits
  • Remote position available to candidates residing in the United States, with this role aligned to the Eastern Time Zone.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • 12 paid holidays, including 4 dedicated self-care days.
  • 24 paid volunteer hours annually.
  • Paid parental leave of 8 weeks for all parents and 16 weeks for birthing parents.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning on the first day of employment.
  • Mental health support, therapy sessions, and digital wellness resources through an Employee Assistance Program.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support.
  • 24/7 virtual veterinary care at no cost.
  • Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options.
  • Tax-advantaged accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting expenses.
  • Professional development through LinkedIn Learning, O’Reilly, mentoring, workshops, and learning events.
  • Competitive total target compensation based on geographic zone, experience, education, and skills:
    • Zone 1: $296,300–$550,200 USD
    • Zone 2: $271,600–$504,300 USD
    • Zone 3: $246,900–$458,400 USD
    • Zone 4: $214,800–$398,900 USD
  • Compensation ranges include base pay and, where applicable, performance-based bonus or variable compensation.
  • Comprehensive benefits and retirement programs designed to support employee well-being and long-term financial security.
  • Equal opportunity employment and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
