Courier / Transportation Specialist
Department: Operations
Reports to: Department Manager
Location: Buffalo, NY
Full-Time: A typical work schedule is standard business hours, with flexibility to handle escalations or provide support during peak times or special projects.
Pay Schedule: Non-exempt employees are paid weekly.
Compensation (Non-Exempt): Salary starts at $40,000–$46,000 annually, depending on experience.
Shift Differential:
2nd Shift: +$1.00/hour 3rd Shift: +$2.00/hour (based on hours worked)
Benefits: Begin on the first day after completing two full months of employment.

Position Summary
The Transportation Specialist (Courier) plays a key role in supporting daily operations by safely transporting materials, products, and equipment between company locations and customer sites. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company policies, and operating vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, products, and equipment to and from designated locations.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules, adjusting as needed to ensure timely service.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any vehicle maintenance or safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company transportation policies at all times.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload shipments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Communicate with supervisors or dispatch regarding delays, delivery issues, or route changes.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with customers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate transportation records and prepare required reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL may be required based on vehicle type).
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving, delivery, or transportation experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Ability to operate delivery vehicles and basic material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management skills.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to driving responsibilities, this role supports overall logistics coordination and serves as a reliable point of communication within the team. The incumbent must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
On-Call Requirements
If called in to work outside of the regular schedule, employees are expected to work at least four hours unless otherwise directed by management.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Work is performed primarily in a driving environment, with time spent entering and exiting vehicles as well as loading and unloading materials at various locations.
Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, road conditions, noise, and outdoor environments during transport and deliveries.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
- Must be able to safely enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push, pull, or maneuver heavier loads using proper equipment.
- Must be able to load and unload materials, including the use of pallet jacks or similar equipment, as needed.
- Requires frequent use of hands and arms for steering, shifting, securing loads, and handling materials.
- Requires occasional bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying during loading and delivery activities.
- Must maintain alertness and focus while driving for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with adherence to delivery schedules.
