Job Description
Lead a 20-person production team. Salaried year-round. Weekends off.
Most kitchen managers work nights, weekends, and holidays. Ours runs a Monday-to-Friday operation that prepares thousands of school meals every day, and keeps a full salary through school breaks. As Kitchen Production Manager, you'll lead our Phoenix production team, own scheduling, quality, and USDA compliance, and report directly to the Regional Director and VP of Operations. If you're a people-first leader who runs a tight kitchen and wants your work to feed kids, this is your next step.

Why You'll Like Working Here
- Stability a school-year job can't offer. Your salary continues through every break, and those weeks are for planning and building, not layoffs.
- A leadership seat, not just a title. Your hiring, promotion, and corrective action recommendations carry real weight, and you report directly to senior leadership.
- Room to build. Develop training materials, standardize procedures, and shape how the kitchen runs.
- Leadership that matters. Every production target your team hits means students across Arizona get a reliable, nutritious meal.
What You'll Do
- Lead and schedule a production team of up to 20, assigning stations and adjusting workflow to hit daily targets.
- Interview candidates, coach performance, and partner with HR on reviews and corrective action.
- Approve ADP timecards and track attendance and schedule adherence.
- Run Health-e Pro: generate meal tags, submit daily orders, and verify school quantities with the Usage Report.
- Oversee quality, portioning, allergy accuracy, HACCP, and USDA meal-pattern compliance.
- Develop and manage the production kitchen budget and find cost savings without compromising safety or quality.
- Keep team certifications current and recommend process improvements to leadership.
What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of kitchen or food-service leadership experience.
- Proven experience managing a production team of 20+, including interviewing, hiring, and corrective action.
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Health-e Pro and ADP, or comparable production and timekeeping systems.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and allergy protocols, plus experience managing to a budget.
- Preferred: 5+ years of progressive leadership, training-development experience, Spanish bilingual, IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, valid AZ driver's license, forklift certification.
The Honest Details
We share these up front so you know exactly what the job looks like and can decide if it's a great fit:
- A working management role. Your main job is directing people and systems, but you'll step into hands-on production when the day requires it.
- On your feet. Expect to stand and walk 6+ hours per shift, and to lift up to 50 lbs when supporting production.
- Hours follow operations. Production runs early and schedules are set by operational needs.
- Certification is on you. ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Accountability is the job. You'll hold a large team to standard, including attendance, documentation, and corrective action.
You'll thrive here if you're organized, fair, and consistent, you can run people and systems at the same time, and you take pride in a kitchen that closes on time, clean, and ready for tomorrow.
