Position Overview:

The Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, safety, and quality standards within our 503A compounding pharmacy. This position is responsible for batch record review, quality documentation, environmental and personnel monitoring oversight, inventory reconciliation, and maintaining compliance with USP standards and state regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Thoroughly audit, review, and sign off on compounding batch records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standard operating procedures SOPs.
• Verify all required supporting documentation and lab reports prior to releasing compounded batches for dispensing.
• Conduct line checks and label verifications to ensure proper drug naming, concentration, lot numbers, expiration dates, and auxiliary warnings match batch records.
• Review Environmental Monitoring and Personnel Monitoring plates, incubations, and corresponding documentation.
• Maintain and update records for sterile compounding personnel, including media fills, gloved fingertip testing, and aseptic technique assessments.
• Ensure all required employee competency assessments, re-certifications, and training logs are fully up to date.
• Accurately reconcile and adjust component or drug inventory balances in the pharmacy dispensing software following batch reconciliation or wastage.
• Scan, index, and digitally archive completed batch records and quality logs for audit readiness and compliance retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a science or healthcare field preferred.
• Registered/Certified Pharmacy Technician designation CPhT as required by state law.
• Previous experience in a compounding pharmacy 503A or 503B or sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
• Familiarity with USP chapters e.g., USP 797, USP 795, USP 800 and state pharmacy board regulations.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software, inventory systems, and document management tools.
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
