Summary
We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Director, Total Rewards & Payroll to design, lead, and continuously evolve programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent while supporting the company's next phase of growth. As a key member of the HR leadership team, this role is responsible for the strategy, administration, and optimization of compensation, benefits, payroll, incentive programs, compliance, and other rewards initiatives, ensuring our offerings are competitive, equitable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.
This leader will oversee compensation benchmarking, salary structure administration, bonus and incentive plan design, benefits strategy and vendor relationships, payroll operations, regulatory compliance, and HRIS-related rewards data and reporting. The successful candidate will build scalable programs and frameworks that can support a rapidly growing organization while partnering closely with executives, finance, managers, and HR colleagues to strengthen the employee value proposition, reinforce company culture, and drive business performance through effective total rewards strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive total rewards strategy that supports business growth and evolving workforce needs.
- Establish and maintain the company's compensation philosophy, salary structures, job architecture, and compensation governance processes.
- Lead compensation analysis, market benchmarking, annual salary planning, and pay equity reviews.
- Design, implement, and administer bonus plans and other incentive programs that align employee performance with company goals.
- Lead benefits strategy, vendor and broker relationships, plan design, and ongoing optimization of health and welfare programs.
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, reporting, and a high-quality employee experience.
- Develop innovative reward, recognition, and retention programs that strengthen engagement and support business objectives.
- Utilize data and analytics to evaluate program effectiveness, inform decision-making, and provide insights to leadership.
- Build scalable processes, systems, and governance practices capable of supporting significant organizational growth
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience leading compensation, benefits, payroll, and total rewards programs.
- Demonstrated success designing and managing compensation structures, market pricing, incentive plans, pay equity analyses, and annual compensation planning processes.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits strategy and administration, including vendor and broker management, plan design, and cost optimization.
- Experience overseeing payroll operations, compliance, reporting, and related HR systems.
- Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations and executive-level insights.
- Experience building dashboards, reports, and presentations that support workforce and business decision-making.
- Proven ability to influence leaders, manage cross-functional initiatives, and align total rewards programs with business strategy.
- Experience building or scaling programs, processes, and infrastructure within a growing organization.
- Advanced proficiency with HRIS, payroll, and reporting platforms and strong Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll within ADP.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or similar certifications.
Location: Hybrid with some work on-site in Longmont, CO
Base Compensation: $142,000 - $168,000 is the projected annual base salary range fand will be determined based on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Equity: This position is eligible for equity in the company.
