LEAD WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST

This position is based out of our New Castle, PA Office.

About the position

Responsible for providing work direction and coordination inside the warehouse operations to ensure timely and accurate receipt, movement and shipping of all products and supplies in the warehouse, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Warehouse Leader: 35+ years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, or distribution experience with proven leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, scheduling work, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are consistently met.
  • Inventory & Operations Expert: Strong background using computerized inventory management systems, managing inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating logistics, and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts while ensuring OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Organized, Safety-Focused Problem Solver: Highly organized with experience in LEAN or continuous improvement methodologies, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient warehouse operation .

Day in the L ife

  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and training to warehouse team members. Coordinates warehouse work to ensure priorities are understood and that the warehouse team is working together to achieve day-to-day objectives.
  • Works closely with warehouse team members and others to ensure all warehouse procedures, quality and safety standards are understood and adhered to. Assists with fleet coordination and equipment DOT certification efforts as needed.
  • Responsible for receiving and accounting for all inbound materials in the warehouse. Maintains receiving log. Accurately tracks inventory and reconciles inventory issues as they arise. Utilizes computerized inventory system. Communicates with purchaser of materials to ensure on-time arrivals and agreed-upon location of storage.
  • Responsible for all outbound shipping, including couriers and UPS/FedEx. Minimize delivery costs whenever possible. Ensure all paperwork is properly completed for shipments. Partners with outside freight companies to ensure all shipments are shipped accurately and on schedule.
  • Responds to calls from field and office staff for material orders from warehouse inventory. Picks orders and schedules delivery or pick-up. Manages material transfers and returns. Distributes packages to office personnel in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinates deliveries from the warehouse with members of the tool department.
  • Safely operate forklift, pallet jacks and hand trucks to load and unload trucks and move materials into the warehouse. Stocks and maintains the Companys Managed Inventory (PMI) boxes. Plans, organizes, and controls the flow of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Organizes and maintains cleanliness of warehouse and outbound areas, maintaining staging areas for equipment and material. Organize materials to make them easily accessible and clearly labeled.
  • Coordinates with the safety department to develop, maintain and practice safety policies and procedures with all equipment and tools, including forklifts, trucks, and trailers.
  • Provides supervision, mentoring and training to staff and other co-workers as needed. Provides performance feedback frequently. Organizes Company events as needed (e.g., customer events or Company-wide meetings).
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by establishing solid networks and communicating well with co-workers, customers, project managers, foremen, sub-contractors, vendors, office staff and field personnel.
  • Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, engineering, operations, electrical construction, or a related field. Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in a warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing, shipping/ receiving environment. Minimum 2 years of experience driving and operating a forklift truck. Training and experience directly managing people preferred.
  • Experience using computerized inventory systems and/or performing work scheduling. Skills in coordinating warehouse workload and providing work direction to others.
  • Knowledge of essential safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Training and experience with LEAN concepts and methodologies. Strong process orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills, scheduling abilities and detail orientation. Demonstrated strong mathematical skills. Effective problem solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated prominent level of integrity and dependability.
  • Aptitude to work independently under pressure, assess multiple demands and manage changing priorities.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required.
