Position Summary: The Co-Response Administrative Assistant provides administrative, operational, and programmatic support for the Co-Response Program within the Cañon City Police Department. This position is responsible for assisting with program coordination, data management, case tracking, community resource coordination, scheduling, documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication. The Administrative Assistant supports clinicians, law enforcement personnel, and community partners through efficient program administration and coordination of services designed to improve behavioral health response and community outcomes.

  • Provides administrative and operational support to the Co-Response Program.
  • Coordinates scheduling, meetings, records management, and program documentation.
  • Maintains accurate case management records and data entry utilizing case management software and other approved systems.
  • Coordinates referrals and communication with community service providers, hospitals, schools, advocacy organizations, and partner agencies.
  • Tracks follow-up activities and assists in ensuring continuity of care and service coordination.
  • Assists with organization and facilitation of Co-Response Steering Committee meetings and related stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintains confidential records in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and departmental standards.
  • Provides assistance to individuals seeking behavioral health or community resource information.
  • Assists with outreach initiatives, educational materials, program promotion, and community engagement efforts.
  • Coordinates training logistics, calendars, and administrative support functions for the program.
  • Provides excellent customer service to external and internal customers including but not limited to effectively listening and communicating, providing accurate information, offering solutions, assisting in resolution, and ensuring timely follow up as needed.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualification(s):

Please note, the following are disqualifiers from employment with the Canon City Police Department:

  • Any felony convictions.
  • Any misdemeanor crimes involving moral turpitude.
  • A fugitive from any jurisdiction.
  • Arrest history, despite conviction status, for any crime of moral turpitude.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in administrative support, program coordination, records management, human services, or a related field.

Education

  • High School diploma, or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one within sixty (60) days of hire, with a driving record acceptable to the City of Cañon City.

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Preferred Qualification(s):

Experience

  • Experience working within behavioral health, law enforcement, public safety, or community service environments.
  • Experience with case management software or records management systems.
  • Experience coordinating community-based programs or multidisciplinary teams.

Education

  • Associate Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee will travel within the City of Cañon City and Fremont County

  • Majority of work time will be indoors with low noise levels.
  • Physical demands of job require some lifting; pulling; carrying and pushing of objects –approximately 15 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, simple grasping, finger/manual dexterity, standing, walking, twisting upper body, stooping, and hearing.
  • Occasional climbing on stairs.
  • Communicates verbally with City staff, outside agencies and the public in one-on-one settings, group settings and over the telephone.

Additional Information:

This position will typically work Monday – Friday but will flex to working weekends and evenings based on seasonal, organizational or event needs.

  • This position will be required to attend occasional City Council meetings and/or other meetings and events after normal work hours.
  • Travel within the City of Cañon City and Fremont County will be required.
  • Frequent extension of workday to meet deadlines.
