Location: South Nashville, near Foster Avenue and Murfreesboro Pike (close to I-440)

Reports To: Facility Manager and Custodial Supervisor
Employment Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Compensation: $17.00 per hour plus some benefits

Position Summary:

ServiceFM LLC is hiring a dependable and detail-oriented Full-Time Day Porter and Custodian to support daily custodial operations at a large middle and high school facility. The ideal candidate is proactive, takes pride in cleanliness, and is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform general custodial duties (cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal).
• Conduct routine inspections and ensure the cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms, and entrances.
• Perform floor and carpet maintenance throughout the year as needed, including routine cleaning, stripping, waxing, buffing, extraction, and deep cleaning during scheduled summer and other school breaks.
• Support event setups and breakdowns, including furniture moves.
• Help secure building entrances during shifts and report any safety or maintenance issues.
• Carry and respond to a two-way radio for service and emergency communication.
• Provide occasional support for weekend events with advance notice.

Work Schedule:

• Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
• Total Hours: 40 hours per week
• Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required for special events

Previous custodial or janitorial experience is required

• Consistent and reliable attendance, with strong punctuality
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed (preferred)
• Must successfully pass a background check to work in a school environment
• Physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks, including walking, bending, stretching, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling, and pushing
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic, professionalism, and customer service mindset
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Able to accurately track and log work hours using a smartphone or mobile device
