The Opportunity

Lesley University's Threshold Program is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: Community Navigation; Fall Semester 2026; In-person, On-Campus. The two sections available are:

  • Fridays from 12:55 pm - 2:10pm (in-person)

  • Fridays from 2:30 pm - 3:45pm (in-person)

Candidates must also be available to participate in virtual staff meetings on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Course Description:

This is a semester-long course designed for first-year students in the Threshold Program. Students will learn how to navigate the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) public transit system, and gain valuable skills such as trip planning, route selection, and safety practices. Through this course, students will develop the skills and confidence needed to travel independently to Lesley University, along with the greater Cambridge and Boston area. These skills will support the students' participation in classes and future internship opportunities.

Qualities & Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a closely related field (required); Master’s degree (preferred)

  • Prior experience working with children or adults with disabilities in a school setting

  • Ability to develop and administer curriculum to students with diverse learning challenges

  • Demonstrated commitment to communicative, student-centered, inclusive, and equitable teaching practices

  • Prior experience success using digital technology to achieve program goals

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skill
