Job Summary

The Health4PETS® Liaison is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all animals at JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, the Liaison communicates important health and wellness updates regarding their pets. This role involves closely monitoring the condition of boarding pets through routine hands-on wellness checks and promptly reporting any changes to the appropriate departments to maintain seamless, consistent care. Health4PETS® Liaisons are also responsible for administering prescribed medications and vaccinations and are trained to respond immediately in the event of a medical emergency.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitors animal health by identifying specific physical conditions (i.e. vomiting, diarrhea, discharge, limping, seizures, bloat, wounds and skin issues) and follows prescribed actions to ensure safety
  • Communicates with clients and staff professionally using sensitivity, maturity and clarity in all interactions
  • Maintains accurate timely records of all health observations, treatments and communications
  • Ensures consistent daily staff communication and task coordination
  • Utilizes checklists and task systems to complete work efficiently while adapting to changing priorities and unanticipated events
  • Administers vaccinations and medications safely and in accordance with established protocols
  • Maintains a calm, confident demeanor while managing multiple responsibilities and navigating high-pressure situations
  • Follows safe handling protocols and uses positive reinforcement techniques when working with dogs
  • Interprets canine and feline body language to anticipate behavior and ensure safe appropriate responses
  • Follows communication protocols with Pet Parents and team members, ensuring timely and accurate information sharing
  • Responds promptly and accurately to instructions delivered in person, over loudspeakers, or via walkie-talkie
  • Assists with evacuation of all animals if an emergency occurs

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of professional Animal Care experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can handle the stress when animals are ill or in pain
  • Empathetic and patient when dealing with clients and sick animals
  • Highly organized
  • Works well in a team setting
  • Able to shift priorities in accordance with unexpected events
  • Remains calm and efficient during a medical crisis
  • Comfortable working with animals of all breeds and sizes
  • Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Veterinary Technician or Assistant preferred
  • Certification or Degree in an animal related field preferred

Computer Skills

  • Must be able to learn and efficiently use company software
  • Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs

Physical Demands

  • Position requires a person to be both indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather
  • Majority of the day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds with assist
  • Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs
  • Must be able to work around pet hair and dander
  • Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day

The pay range for this role is:
20 - 23 USD per hour(JMPRVC)
