About Boast

Boast is redefining how companies unlock R&D funding, turning a complex, manual, and audit-prone process into a streamlined, scalable engine for growth. By combining deep technical and R&D tax expertise with purpose-built AI, Boast helps companies across Canada and the U.S. unlock critical funding with confidence so they can focus on building and growing. Since 2011, Boast has helped thousands of businesses access over $600 million in innovation capital.

At Boast, you have the opportunity to do meaningful, high-impact work without operating in a rigid structure. You are trusted to take ownership, work directly with interesting clients, and contribute to how solutions are built and delivered. Problems are complex, the work is collaborative, and the pace is fast, which creates an environment where you can expand beyond a single specialty, build real judgment, and see the direct impact of your work. For those who want responsibility, visibility, and the ability to influence outcomes, let's talk!

About the Role

As a Sales Development Representative, you’ll be responsible for researching companies that fit Boast’s ideal customer profile, identifying key decision-makers, and using multi-channel outbound outreach to secure qualified sales meetings.

You’ll connect with senior leaders and executive stakeholders, including CEOs, CFOs, CTOs, founders, finance leaders, and technical decision-makers, to understand their current processes, uncover potential business challenges, and introduce how Boast can help companies access eligible R&D tax credits with greater confidence and less administrative burden.

This is a high-activity, outbound-focused role, but it is not about simply working through a call list. You’ll be expected to take ownership of your targets, use Boast’s sales tools and CRM effectively, adapt your messaging, and help create a strong handoff experience for the sales team.

This role is a strong fit for someone early in their sales career who is coachable, resilient, curious, and motivated to build real outbound sales discipline in a complex and valuable market.

📍 Location: Hybrid role, based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area
🏢 In-person collaboration: Expected to work from the Toronto office at least once per week
💰 Compensation: Competitive base salary plus commission structure

What You’ll Do

  • Achieve monthly Sales Qualified Lead targets by identifying, qualifying, and converting prospective customers into initial sales meetings
  • Research companies that fit Boast’s ideal customer profile and identify the right buyer personas, key influencers, and decision-makers within prospective accounts
  • Use outbound prospecting methods, including phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels, to engage prospective customers and generate qualified meetings
  • Leverage outbound sales enablement tools and CRM systems to maintain a disciplined, efficient, and consistent prospecting process
  • Follow up with potential customers who have expressed interest but have not yet moved forward
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives and sales leaders to support company goals, meeting targets, and pipeline generation
  • Take accurate and detailed notes on prospects, including context, pain points, stakeholders, and next steps, to ensure a smooth handoff to the sales team
  • Develop a strong understanding of the R&D tax credit industry, including the challenges companies face when navigating claim eligibility, documentation, and funding opportunities
  • Build a clear understanding of Boast’s value proposition and how Boast helps customers reduce complexity, minimize risk, and access innovation funding
  • Provide feedback on outreach outcomes, prospect responses, messaging gaps, and incremental needs to increase the volume and velocity of qualified opportunities in the pipeline
  • Stay resilient and consistent through rejection, changing priorities, and evolving sales strategies

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of sales experience in SaaS, technology, software, IoT, professional services, or another relevant B2B environment
  • Experience prospecting, qualifying, and engaging prospective customers through outbound outreach, including cold calling, cold emailing, or similar sales activity
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales targets, activity goals, or performance expectations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone presence, clear prospect messaging, and the ability to communicate with business decision-makers
  • A consultative, solutions-focused approach to understanding customer needs, positioning value, and creating a positive prospect experience
  • High ownership of personal targets, daily activity, follow-through, and pipeline outcomes
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while staying focused on results
  • Strong coachability, curiosity, and willingness to learn a complex market, including R&D tax credits, SR&ED, innovation funding, and related business challenges
  • Analytical and proactive mindset, with the ability to review activity, outcomes, and prospect feedback to improve outreach and conversion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Salesforce, ZoomInfo, sales engagement platforms, or other relevant prospecting and CRM tools
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, or evolving sales environment
  • Experience in fintech, tax credits, grants, R&D funding, SaaS, or technology sales
  • Bilingual French and English

Boast Benefits

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits package
  • RRSP matching program
  • Three weeks of paid vacation
  • Hybrid work model
  • Opportunity to take ownership of meaningful work and directly influence outcomes in a growing, product-driven company
  • Work alongside a team focused on solving complex, high-impact problems in a fast-moving, start-up environment
