Summary:
The Import & Export Operations Specialist will support international freight forwarding operations by coordinating import and export shipments, managing transportation documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining communication with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and international partners. This role will support end-to-end shipment visibility while ensuring efficient and compliant transportation operations.

As an Import & Export Operations Specialist, You Will:

  • Coordinate international import and export shipments across air freight and ocean freight services.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transportation and logistics issues.
  • Support FCL, LCL, air import, and air export operations.
  • Coordinate shipment movement from origin through final delivery.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, carriers, and government agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with customs examinations, shipment holds, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Review and process shipping documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, MAWB/HAWB documentation, AMS filings, and ISF filings.
  • Coordinate transportation providers including ocean carriers, airlines, trucking companies, rail providers, warehouses, and drayage providers.
  • Provide shipment tracking, status updates, and visibility reporting to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support transportation planning, routing, and logistics cost control initiatives.
  • Assist in reducing demurrage, detention, storage, and accessorial costs.
  • Support inbound and outbound logistics activities related to eCommerce and fulfillment operations.
  • Partner with warehouse, fulfillment, transportation, and customer service teams.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with overseas offices and international logistics partners regarding shipment coordination and operational support.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of freight forwarding, international logistics, NVOCC, or 3PL operations experience required.
  • Experience supporting import operations, export operations, air freight, ocean freight, or international transportation activities required.
  • Experience within freight forwarding, customs brokerage, NVOCC, or international logistics environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures, freight forwarding documentation, AMS filings, ISF filings, and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of Incoterms 2020 and international shipping processes preferred.
  • Experience supporting eCommerce fulfillment, cross-border logistics, or international transportation operations preferred.
  • Experience with GoFreight, CargoWise, TMS, WMS, or similar logistics platforms preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Mandarin Chinese language skills are highly preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or related field preferred.
