About North Brands Group
Store Manager, New Large Format Store (Opening November 2026)
NorthBoys and Northgirls | Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket
About North Brands Group
NorthBoys and Northgirls are not typical children's retail.
We are a growing, niche, premium fashion retailer redefining kidswear in Canada. We operate four boutique locations across the GTA and are opening our fifth, and first large format store, at Upper Canada Mall in November 2026.
We specialize in curated designer formalwear, elevated casualwear, and accessories from newborn to size 16, with a strong focus on styling and client relationships. We are an authorized kids retailer for Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani, Psycho Bunny, Lacoste, Michael Kors, LoveShackFancy, KatiejNYC, Mayoral and more. NorthBoys is one of only three Ralph Lauren Kids retailers in Canada and the only independent Psycho Bunny Kids retailer. Northgirls is the only Canadian retailer carrying LoveShackFancy for girls.
This is not volume retail. This is consultative selling and personal styling.
Why This Role Is Different
Upper Canada Mall is our largest store to date and the first to carry both banners under one roof. You will not be stepping into an established operation. You will be building it. From fixture layout and opening merchandising to hiring and training your own team, this is a rare opportunity to shape a flagship from day one and set the standard for how our large format stores run.
You will report directly to the district manager and ownership, with real influence over assortment, presentation, and how the store is run.
The Role
As Store Manager, you own the performance, presentation, and people of a large format location carrying both banners.
Before Opening (September to November 2026)
- Partner with the district manager and ownership on store layout, fixturing, and floor flow across both banners
- Recruit, hire, and train the founding store team
- Lead receiving, ticketing, and the full opening merchandising set
Merchandising and Presentation
- Own visual merchandising for both NorthBoys and Northgirls, including windows, feature walls, mannequins, and daily floor standards
- Merchandise two distinct banners so each reads clearly while the store still feels like one destination
- React to sell through, seasonality, and new receipts by resetting the floor without waiting to be asked
- Provide the district manager and ownership with regular feedback on what is selling, what is sitting, and what the store needs
Sales and Performance
- Own store sales targets, average transaction value, units per sale, and conversion
- Coach the team on consultative selling, full outfitting, and recommending additions
- Build and grow a client base through personal styling relationships, appointments, and clienteling
Team Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a team across a large format footprint
- Set daily priorities, delegate clearly, and hold the team accountable to standards
- Create a floor culture that is professional, energetic, and focused on the client
Operations
- Own inventory accuracy, receiving, transfers, and loss prevention
- Maintain back of house organization at a scale larger than a boutique
- Ensure opening, closing, and daily processes run consistently
- Support buying and replenishment decisions for the location
Who You Are
- Someone who sees what needs doing and does it, because this store will not come with a playbook
- Strong merchandising instincts, with a portfolio or examples of floors and windows you have built
- Experienced leading a fashion retail team, ideally in a premium or designer environment
- Passionate about product, styling, and building lasting client relationships
- Sales driven and comfortable being measured on numbers
- Precise, with a high standard for presentation and an eye for detail
- Calm and organized under the pressure of a new store opening
- Professional, polished, and confident with an affluent clientele
What We Are Looking For
- 3 or more years of retail management experience, fashion preferred
- Demonstrated visual merchandising experience, which is a core part of this role rather than an afterthought
- Experience opening a new store or leading a major reset is a strong asset
- Proven track record of hiring, training, and retaining a team
- Full availability including evenings, weekends, and peak seasons
- Available to start ahead of the November 2026 opening with training at Lawrence Plaza locations in North York.
Location
- Upper Canada Mall - 17600 Yonge Street, Newmarket Ontario
