Job Summary:

Our MERHVAC Manager (Mechanical, Electrical, Refrigeration, and HVAC Manager) plays a vital role at the Conference Center by providing a clean, healthy, safe, and well-maintained environment for Ridgecrest guests through effective preventive maintenance programs. In this role, you will oversee the maintenance, operation, and reliability of critical facility systems, including boilers, hot water systems, mechanical equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical infrastructure.

The MERHVAC Manager is responsible for coordinating the planning, replacement, installation, and continuous improvement of these systems during renovations and new construction projects. This position also leads technical teams, ensures regulatory compliance, promotes energy efficiency, and helps maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff. By performing these duties, you will directly support our mission: Impacting lives for God's Glory through Purposeful Hospitality.

Job specific highlights:

This is a full-time position with hours that may vary based on business needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency call-outs as business needs require.

Starting salary: $65,000 annually, negotiable based on experience.

A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including health and dental insurance and 403(b) retirement contributions.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide direction, oversight, and leadership to assigned staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain boilers, hot water systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, chiller systems, ice systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical, electrical, and environmental control systems to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance activities and repairs for all systems and equipment.
  • Install new or replacement mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as related accessories, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with standards.
  • Monitor and maintain energy management systems to optimize energy usage and reduce operational costs.
  • Select, coordinate, and manage outsourced suppliers and services, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Oversee troubleshooting and repair of all systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Provide regular reports on system performance, maintenance needs, and staffing requirements to senior management.
  • Completes other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED and two years of vocational training
  • Certification to reclaim and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants is required
  • Work experience in related field (3 years minimum)
  • Leadership role experience in related field (2 years minimum)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with using shop tools and related specialized equipment

  • Strong leadership skills that will allow you to delegate tasks effectively, lead a team to success, aid in decision making, and motivate your team
  • Strong organizational skills involving the ability to keep track of various tasks, resources, and timelines across multiple projects.
  • Ability to overcome unexpected challenges (e.g., equipment malfunctions, client-specific changes, weather conditions)
  • Strong communication skills to cultivate relationships with your team and other departments around campus along with guests.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 60 pounds. Frequent handling of heavy items, such as equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as the role involves moving throughout the facility and performing hands-on tasks.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or work at heights when necessary for maintenance, repairs, or event set-up.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of hands for fine motor tasks, such as handling tools, adjusting equipment, or performing detailed repairs.
  • Must be able to work long hours, including standing, walking, and performing physical tasks continuously throughout the shift.
  • Must be comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, and under varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery required for maintenance tasks.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and maneuver around equipment and obstacles in the workspace to complete tasks.
