About This Position
Purpose:
The Environmental Services (EVS) Aide performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. This role supports a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by ensuring cleanliness and infection control standards are met.
Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Maintenance

Dust, scrub, wet and dry mop, wax, and buff floors using appropriate equipment and supplies.

Operate Environmental Services equipment including automatic floor scrubbers, buffers, high-speed burnishers, carpet extractors, and vacuum cleaners.

Clean and wash walls, windows, furniture, fixtures, bathrooms, and restrooms following aseptic techniques.

Empty and clean wastebaskets and linen carts; replace liners as needed.

Replenish supplies in assigned areas.

Equipment Care & Safety

Maintain cleaning equipment in proper working order.

Report mechanical failures or needed repairs in buildings or equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

Operational Flexibility
-
May be scheduled to work alternate shifts, weekends, and holidays based on staffing needs.

Perform other duties as assigned within scope of training and policy.

Education:
-
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
-
One month of custodial, housekeeping, or environmental services experience preferred.
Contacts:
-
Regular contact with patients, visitors, and staff across hospital departments.
Physical Demands:
-
Stands, walks, and bends most of the day.

Lifts and carries equipment and supplies of various weights in accordance with OSHA safety guidelines.
Working Conditions:
-
Works primarily in well-lit, ventilated, and temperature-controlled areas.

Potential exposure to medical/infectious waste, cleaning chemicals, harsh detergent solutions, dust, dirt, and unpleasant odors.

Follows universal precautions and hospital infection control practices.

Must be available to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays; occasional overtime may be required.
