Position Overview:

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling and referral management to ensure efficient patient care and provider workflow. This role serves as the liaison between patients, providers, hospitals, and other medical offices, ensuring that all surgical and referral documentation is accurate, complete, and processed in a timely manner.

Position Highlights:

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday
  • Starting Rate: $15.21 + per hour (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Surgery Management: Receives surgery orders and other pertinent documentation from health system surgical practices. Enters all pertinent data into electronic systems. Schedules surgeries in collaboration with health system admissions, OR and billing departments. Works closely with patients on all notifications for timing and preparations for surgery scheduled. Maintains analytical data on all surgeries scheduled.
• Referral Management: Process incoming referrals in accordance with clinic protocols.
• Track referral status and follow up with outside offices to ensure timely scheduling and completion.
• Maintain accurate referral documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate referral details and appointment information to patients and providers.
• Detailed and efficient utilization of Allscripts electronic health record, Microsoft word and excel.
• Superior internal and external customer service skills.
• Astute ability to multitask, ensuring accuracy with all administrative functions.

Qualifications

Two year degree in the arts or sciences. Knowledge in medical terminology. 1-2 years of medical administration experience. Professional attitude and appearance. Demonstrated ability to establish strong professional relationships. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
