Job Purpose:
- The Yard Supervisor at GOLD BEACH LUMBER YARD INC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the lumber yard, ensuring efficient and safe handling of materials, and maintaining a well-organized yard. This role is crucial in managing the yard staff, optimizing workflow, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of yard workers, including scheduling shifts and assigning tasks.
- Ensure the safe operation of all yard equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring accuracy and preventing damage.
- Maintain an organized and clean yard, ensuring materials are stored properly and inventory is easily accessible.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Train new employees in yard operations, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to yard operations.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to improve efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse, lumber yard, or similar environment.
- Proven track record of managing teams effectively and maintaining safety standards.
- Experience with inventory management and logistics coordination.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle various operations simultaneously.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and management.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring smooth yard operations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures relevant to a lumber yard environment.
- Physical ability to perform yard duties, including lifting and moving materials as needed.
