Job Description

Position Purpose

To deliver accurate, compliant, and timely end‑to‑end payroll processing for the US and Canadian businesses, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations, and effective utilisation of ADP Workforce Now.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and assistance to end users as subject matter expert for Payroll
  • Review, process and follow up of new hires and terminations
  • Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local payroll legislation, including FLSA, state wage laws, and tax requirements
  • Manage multi‑state payroll processing and tax allocations
  • Administer garnishments, levies, and statutory deductions
  • Liaise with HR, Operations, Training and other functional areas to ensure consistent application of decisions and processes in the system
  • Execute end to end pays for both the US and Canadian businesses in a timely and accurate manner
  • Continuously improve payroll efficiency and knowledge in the businesses
  • Proactively seek improvements to our Payroll software (ADP) and the overall payroll process
  • Maintain payroll documentation, controls, and audit trails
  • Maintain and configure pay codes, earnings, deductions and tax settings within ADP Workforce Now
  • Partner with ADP support to resolve system or compliance issues
  • Health, Safety & Environment

  • Report and record HSE events
  • Comply with regulations

  • Key Performance Indicators

  • System or process improvements recommended and implemented
  • Payroll accuracy rate (% error‑free pays)
  • On‑time payroll completion (100% adherence to payroll calendar)
  • Number of payroll compliance issues or penalties (target: zero)
  • Successful year‑end filings delivered on time

  • 5 years payroll experience

  • Experience processing US payroll (including multi‑state)

  • Experience of processing Canadian payroll

  • Experience in mining, construction or similar blue-collar industries
