Shift: Monday- Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

SUMMARY

The Material Handler III serves as a senior-level contributor within the Supply Chain team, responsible for the accurate handling, movement, and management of materials across the facility. This role leads by example in warehouse operations, mentors junior material handlers, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. In addition to performing stockroom functions including production order picking, inventory control, cycle counting, and material distribution, the Material Handler III takes an active role in resolving complex inventory discrepancies, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and supporting operational efficiency. This position requires a strong command of ERP systems, material traceability requirements, and lean manufacturing principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, pallet jack, company vehicle as authorized) to safely transport raw materials, finished goods, tooling, and supplies between warehouse and production work centers in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

· Serve as a senior resource for material flow coordination, staging tools, fixtures, and raw materials in alignment with the production schedule to minimize downtime and support on-time delivery.

· Receive, verify, and document incoming shipments; load and unload trucks while ensuring material accuracy, condition, and traceability. Identify and escalate discrepancies or quality concerns.

· Perform and review inventory transactions in the ERP system (IQMS) including material moves, receipts, issues, and adjustments; identify root causes of discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

· Store materials, pallets, and containers (including large gaylords) in designated rack locations in strict adherence to FIFO, lot control, and traceability requirements.

· Maintain organized storage of CNC fixtures, thermoforming tools, and production support equipment; identify and address unsafe or non-compliant storage conditions.

· Prepare, label, tag, and package materials for internal transfer or external shipment in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements, and verify accuracy of junior team members' work as assigned.

· Lead and participate in warehouse 5S initiatives, waste management programs, and continuous improvement activities; serve as a subject matter resource for team-level process improvement efforts.

· Assist Shipping and Receiving operations as needed; provide guidance to junior Material Handlers during peak periods or in the absence of supervisory coverage.

· Comply with all safety policies, OSHA requirements, and company procedures; proactively identify and report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

· Lead or assist with inventory cycle counts; analyze count results, identify root causes for variances, and support resolution to maintain inventory accuracy targets.

· Perform routine equipment checks, log findings, and coordinate with maintenance on equipment issues to minimize operational disruptions.

· Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Material Handler I and II employees on processes, systems, and safety expectations.

· Support cross-departmental coordination with Production, Quality, and Purchasing on material availability, substitutions, and expedited requests.

· Supports accounting and organizational objectives by completing related tasks and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or vocational/technical certification in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.

• Six (6) or more years of experience in warehouse, stockroom, or inventory control positions.

• Three (3) or more years of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

• Prior experience in a senior, lead, or training capacity within a warehouse or materials team preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Current Forklift Operator certification or satisfactory completion of a company-approved forklift training program is required.

• Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

· Conversational in any other language is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Proficient in basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

• Ability to interpret packing slips, bill of materials, and inventory reports with numerical accuracy.

JOB SKILLS

• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.

• Working knowledge of ERP systems; IQMS experience strongly preferred.

• Advanced understanding of material handling processes including customer order fulfillment, inventory control and disposition, supply documentation, data and transactional management, material distribution and delivery, and cycle/physical counting.

• Ability to train and guide others on material handling processes, ERP transactions, and safety expectations.

• Experience with RF Gun operation; demonstrated ability to troubleshoot common RF scanning issues.

• Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles; active participation in 5S and continuous improvement activities, with ability to lead team-level improvement tasks.

• Demonstrated sound judgment in prioritization and decision-making within a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

• Strong written communication skills for completing forms, logs, cycle count documentation, and internal correspondence.

• Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders or special projects in support of customer demands.

• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across organizational levels, including Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

· ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.

· Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.

· Hearing protection in specific locations.

· Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.

TRAVEL

Approximately 5% of travel is expected.

SALARY INFORMATION

According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $20 and $28 hourly/annually. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline.
