About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

At DESRI, our culture is grounded in rigorous analytics and thoughtful risk-taking, with a strong emphasis on creativity, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement. We operate with lean teams that prioritize efficiency and minimize unnecessary bureaucracy, enabling individuals to take ownership and move quickly. We value open, constructive dialogue and believe it leads to better outcomes. Above all, we are driven to go the extra mile and support one another, fostering a collaborative environment built on accountability, integrity, and care.

About the role

DESRI seeks a talented and highly motivated individual to join the team as a project delivery associate. As a key member of the Project Delivery team, this role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact and work with a growing team in a dynamic and agile organization, contributing to the success of renewable energy projects and the transition to a sustainable future.

What you'll do

You’ll be responsible for managing projects from mid-stage development through financing, and then through construction to commercial operation. You’ll manage construction activities in collaboration with in-house and third-party technical and field support teams. You’ll balance and prioritize competing and shifting priorities, delegate effectively to internal and external resources, as well as communicate and resolve technical, legal, commercial, and other matters as they arise. You’ll also oversee outside consultants such as environmental, civil engineering, and electrical engineering firms, as necessary. You’ll interact with and manage external stakeholders including landowners, permitting authorities, financing parties, and interconnection and offtake utilities. You’ll also lead ongoing coordination and alignment among internal stakeholders, frequently communicating with project developers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Legal, Finance, and Asset Management.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of applicable experience and an undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical field is required, as is an impressive background of academic and professional achievement.
  • Candidates with proven experience in the power industry or renewable energy industry, along with specific experience in solar project development, construction, or asset management, will thrive in this role.
  • Deep knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry regulations, and best practices is essential.
  • Intellectually curious individuals with well-developed written and verbal communication skills, analytical acumen, and proven organizational abilities are highly sought-after.
  • Moderate travel for site visits and meetings with construction teams and local project stakeholders is required.
  • Familiarity with (or interest in) contract negotiation and management, specifically PPA, GIA, EPC, equipment supply, among others is preferred.
  • At DESRI, we consider a wide range of factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The expected annual base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000.
  • Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
