The Role

The Director of EPC & Renewable Development is responsible for driving strategic growth through the development and management of EPC, contractor, utility, industrial, and large-project customer relationships within the electrical distribution market. This role leads sales initiatives focused on complex electrical infrastructure and capital projects involving power distribution equipment, switchgear, automation, lighting, renewable energy, and industrial systems.

The Director collaborates closely with internal teams, EPC partners, utilities, and manufacturers, to successfully develop technical solutions, secure project specifications, and grow revenue and market share.

Requirements:

Essential Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Butler Supply’s EPC and renewable market strategy targeting electrical contractors, utilities, industrial clients, OEMs, and large end users that align with Butler Supply’s footprint.
  • Position Butler Supply as a preferred electrical distribution and value added solutions partner on large projects.
  • Support renewable and infrastructure projects from early design and preconstruction through procurement and delivery.
  • Collaborate with EPCs and engineers on equipment specification, availability, and cost optimization.
  • Expand market share within industrial, utility, renewable energy, commercial construction, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support for bids, quotations, project management, and logistics execution.
  • Assess project risk related to supply chain, lead times, substitutions, and scope changes.
  • Identify emerging markets including data centers, renewable energy, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, and grid modernization.
  • Work cross functionally with operations and warehouse teams to improve jobsite delivery, accuracy, and schedule performance.
  • Stay current on renewable technology trends, code changes, and utility requirements.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Background in distribution a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or Business related field.
  • Experience in electrical distribution, EPC project support, or renewable infrastructure a plus.
  • Proven track record developing large project opportunities and strategic accounts.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Sales-minded; competitive spirit
  • Effective time management, organization skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective people skills in interactions with external and internal customers, owners, buyers, team members. Desired traits: Professionalism, integrity, tact, diplomacy, self-awareness.
  • Able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information.
  • Proficient in technological resources to aid in effective presentation, follow-through, and overall customer experience.
