Job Summary
The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest service in alignment with The Tides Inn mission and Forbes Five-Star standards. This role ensures that all guest rooms and assigned areas are immaculate, well-stocked, and thoughtfully arranged to create a luxurious and comfortable experience. Success in this position is demonstrated through attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to anticipate and respond to guest needs with professionalism and care. The Room Attendant plays a critical role in supporting overall guest satisfaction and upholding the reputation of The Tides Inn.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Regular and Reliable Attendance is an essential function of this role.
• Exemplifies the Tides Inn Mission and Values.
• Constantly and consistently exhibit The Tides Inn mission, values and standards of behavior including adherence to the Forbes Five-Star standards.
• The Forbes Five-Star standards are as follows: Cleanliness & Condition, Graciousness, Thoughtfulness, & Sense of Personalized Service, Guest Comfort & Convenience Sense of Luxury, and Wellness.
• Collect dirty sheets, towels, and linens from guest rooms in accordance with The Tides Inn “green program” guidelines.
• Empty trash containers and collect obvious trash materials and remove them from the room.
• Dust all hard surfaces, vacuum all carpet, and mop all hard floor surfaces.
• Dust lamp shades, baseboards and ceiling fans.
• Clean bathrooms sink and vanity area and refresh and straighten up guest sundries.
• Clean commode and replace toilet tissue as required.
• Clean shower and tub including fixtures, walls and shelving and mop floor ensuring no remaining film, hairs or other blemishes remain.
• Change bed linens and make beds neatly.
• Replace bathroom linen if necessary.
• Replenish toiletries, towels, coffee, tea, and minibar items.
• Arrange room amenities (clocks, lamps, reading materials, chairs, draperies, etc.) in accordance with The Tides Inn room presentation standards.
• Reset the alarm clock if necessary (make sure alarm is off).
• Pick up and neatly fold or arrange guest belongings left in room.
• Remove any remaining dirty china, glass and silver from previous room service or amenity deliveries.
• Address guest inquiries, fulfill special requests (extra pillows, towels), and handle lost items with tact.
• Restock room attendant service cart as needed to ensure maximum efficiency and availability of items throughout the shift.
• Affirmatively and proactively engage guests in hallways and rooms with friendly and pleasant greetings and be ready for a friendly conversation if the opportunity arises.
• Ask guests if there are any other needs you may assist with and provide a warm farewell.
• Make the room pristine with no condition issues.
• Replace all amenities the guest may have used.

Qualifications
• Specific Experience: Prior hotel or equivalent level guest service experience required. Previous housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
• Specific Skills: Ability to engage in friendly and polite conversation. Must be able to speak clearly and comprehensible. Strong attention to detail, organization, discretion, and adherence to health and safety standards.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certifications: None required.
• Licenses: May not have any misdemeanor or felony convictions.

Physical Requirements
• Work Environment: Position requires performance of duties primarily indoors but may require occasional work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather with hot and cold temperatures. Requires use of cleaning solutions that require the following of specific handling practices, and which may have an odor.
• Equipment Used: Cleaning tools, vacuum, mop, cleaning solutions, service cart.
• Sitting: 5%
• Standing: 60%
• Walking / Bending: 35%
• Lifting – up to: 20 pounds or more
• Vision: Navigation of property, safety, attention to cleanliness standards.
• Hearing: Interaction with guests, safety awareness.
• Travel Expectations: No travel is required for this role.
• Driving Requirements: None.
• Other: Position requires constant standing and walking as well as significant stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Requires stamina for long periods of physical activity and maintaining high productivity standards.
