Position Summary
Assists public housing community residents while being transported in NRHA automobiles, vans, and other vehicles to assigned locations.
Essential Functions
Assists passengers with boarding and exiting the van safely.
Provides information to residents and others regarding the resident services transportation program, van schedule, resident services programs, and other related information.
Maintains and submits daily mileage log, incident reports, gas card usage, and other documentation as directed.
Cleans vehicle interior as assigned.
Reports any malfunctions or accidents involving assigned vehicle to ensure the safety and security of passengers.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification.
- One-year prior experience in van operations, with experience in transporting elderly and disabled persons preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience necessary to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
- Subject to a background check, pre-employment health check, and reference verification prior to hire.
- Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to NRHA’s code of conduct and ethics policies.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, see, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Job requires depth perception.
NRHA will consider equivalent substitutes for education and/or experience, provided that the candidate can demonstrate that he/she has obtained the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the job.
