Position Summary

The Post Closing Specialist is responsible for reviewing, auditing, and managing residential mortgage loan files after closing to ensure accuracy, completeness, compliance, and timely delivery to investors. This role supports the integrity of the mortgage process by tracking deficiencies, and maintaining regulatory and investor compliance standards.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Investor Responsibilities

  • Resolve suspense items or investor stipulations prior to funding or purchase deadlines.
  • Upload and manage electronic loan files within designated systems.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally with internal teams, title companies, attorneys, investors, and borrowers when necessary.
  • Escalate unresolved issues or aging deficiencies to management.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, closing, funding, compliance, and servicing departments to resolve post-closing issues.

Reporting & Quality Control

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and pipeline management tools.
  • Meet established service level agreements (SLAs) and productivity standards.
  • Assist with departmental audits, reconciliations, and special projects.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Minimum of 3 years of mortgage post-closing or mortgage operations experience
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan documents, closing procedures, and investor requirements.
  • Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC guidelines preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with electronic document management systems and eMortgages preferred.
  • Knowledge of trailing document tracking and collateral shipping procedures.
