Job Description
Precision Science is a leading manufacturer of animal health products. We've been producing quality products since 1989. We operate two manufacturing plants located in North Phoenix (19th Ave and Deer Valley). We are seeking a Production Shift Supervisor who can lead in a fast pace environment. This position will manage the 1st Shift Production Operations Monday through Thursday 5:30am to 4pm, some Fridays may be required. Benefits include:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations during assigned shifts to ensure production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational efficiencies are achieved. This role supervises production personnel, coordinates workflow, resolves operational issues, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure steady flow of production activities and production of high-quality products at the correct quantity
Ensure optimal machine utilization
Implement Production Department scheduling, production control, inventory control and output for the shift
Motivate and develop a cohesive production team
Initiate, recommend, investigate, trouble-shoot and provide solutions and actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the products, process and quality system
Lead a team of technicians and operators, which includes working on a production line, to meet production yield and target.
In charge of the production team’s daily output requirements and operational efficiency
Responsible for the production team’s discipline, attendance, safety, training and shift staffing per production schedule.
Morning Huddle: Lead a daily team huddle to communicate clear expectations, including throughput goals, cleaning times, and other relevant priorities.
Hourly Floor Walks: Conduct regular walk-throughs to identify and address any bottlenecks such as equipment issues or missing tools that may impact throughput.
Batch Record Verification: Ensure that employees are completing batch records accurately and in alignment with process expectations.
Facility Checks: Assess the cleanliness and organization of the facility during floor walks.
Break/Lunch Staggering: Coordinate staggered breaks and lunches where applicable to maintain continuous operation and improve efficiency.
Supervisor is expected to work 50-55 hours per week depending on shift needs.
Performance Coaching: Have timely one-on-one conversations with employees not meeting expectations and implement a clear improvement plan outlining the steps required for success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School Diploma, bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum five (5) years of experience in manufacturing environment, including experience in a supervisory role
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and demonstrated results
SKILLS and COMPENTENCIES
Experience with extruders and packaging equipment
Experience within a metrics driven organization
Strong process control experience
Excellent interpersonal, teambuilding, and oral/written communication skills
Demonstrates Excellent leadership and time management skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
Knowledge of MSDS, HACCP and GMPs
Knowledge of working with regulatory agencies (e.g. OSHA, AIB, FDA, EPA)
Experience in safety administration
Ability to direct a diverse and multicultural work force.
Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Adaptability to new software systems
Willingness to work evenings, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

This is a physically active manufacturing environment that may include heat, dust, noise, and non-climate-controlled conditions.
Working with raw materials such as wheat, soy, alfalfa, antibiotics or peanut butter.
