Job Description
The Weld Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the direction of proper workflow of product through the assigned area utilizing both equipment and personnel in the most efficient manner, while meeting or exceeding daily production requirements. As such, we expect this person to be able to lead by example, work independently and ensure good work attitudes, atmosphere, and communication to maximize productivity. The Weld Coordinator will be required to transmit Supervision’s directions and work instructions to a group of workers engaged in closely related operations. They will work with the group to ensure that work is properly and efficiently completed, and as a liaison to supervision regarding problems and concerns.
The Weld Coordinator will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
- Working knowledge of production processes with the ability to “fill-in” on each piece of equipment or meet the necessity of the assigned area. Has the skills necessary to solve minor production issues
- Giving immediate direction as to actual and immediate work, machine operations, work methods, shop or trade practice, machine or work set-ups, and layouts for demonstration purposes
- Leads a team of employees in a technical, fast paced, deadline driven environment that emphasizes quality
- Assesses skills and knowledge, addressing gaps where applicable, of team members and allocates them to meet customer needs daily
- Ensures the specific personnel, machines, tools, and equipment are properly utilized for work to be done
- Must be able to spot weld, mig weld galvanized steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum as required per job assignment
- Must be able to properly set-up all welding equipment with reference to type, thickness, shape, and contour of material to be worked on
- Perform weekly inventory on welding supplies. Ex: weld tips and safety supplies
- Follows method instruction sheet as to set-up of work area
- Straightens parts, if necessary; welds parts together to complete assembly
- Locates spots per print to minimize warpage, creepage; performs welding inspection for conformance to standards
- Recognizes improper functions and corrects by adjusting machine
- Refinishes electrode tips towards good welding operation
- Performs rework of same level
- Performs regular Spot/Seam Welder’s functions with the continuous manual lifting of sub-assemblies and assemblies
- Sets up parts, sub-assemblies, and complete assemblies to be welded with the aid of jigs and fixtures
- Set-up welding machine for welding parts or assemblies of light weight material involving seams, flanges, and edges; butt and lap welding of parts and assemblies involved in the fabrication of evaporative coolers
- Partner with technical maintenance team to ensure equipment is periodically maintained and operating as designed.
- Recognizing the necessity to design, implement and evaluate new procedures. Able to effectively lead change
- Maintain and coordinate with Materials team supplies levels and inventory
- Expedites orders throughout the plant to ensure customer orders are met in a timely manner while ensuring quality and safe working practices
- Instilling a sense of urgency and desire to maximize output on the production floor wherever the opportunity arises, while monitoring productivity
- Supports the compliance with, and the maintenance of, safety requirements in accordance with company policies and/or federal/state laws
- Identifies, coaches, and develops team members through training, performance reviews, coaching, support and delegation as appropriate for their development level
- Insures employees are properly trained in their position and additional positions as applies
- Establishes an environment that is conducive to collaboration and teamwork, promotes positive employee relations and takes steps to prevent or diffuse conflicts
- May be required to complete machine set-ups
- Must perform all work in accordance with all applicable safety procedures
- Able to work Overtime based on production requirements
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:- 1-3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing or fast paced work environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Flexible, assertive, team player who is willing to help out wherever needed to achieve company goals
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty efficiently, safely and in an acceptable manner
- Possess familiarity with machines, work functions and/or operations to which assigned
- Sufficient degree of skill in assigned trade, craft, machines, and work operations
- Ability to properly transmit information and instruction to others
- Proper knowledge of current trade practice, materials, and tooling as it affects work being performed
- Able to understand and use proper methods of transmitting supervisions directions
- Must have ability to lead by example
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders; read, write, speak and comprehend English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to work as needed, particularly during high volume periods, to ensure that departmental objectives are accomplished
- Capacity to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations; understand fundamental flow of shop material and its problems or material handling
