Job Description

BRG is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
Position Title: Consultant — Forensic Investigations

Location: Dusseldorf, GER

Position Type: Full time

Requisition ID: JR101076

Description: We Do Consulting Differently

We are establishing BRG's Forensic Investigations practice in Germany. This is a genuine build — a new team, in a new market, with the methodology, credentials and global network of an established international firm behind it, and without the constraints of a legacy structure.

The practice focuses on two connected disciplines: forensic accounting and fraud investigations, and forensic technology and eDiscovery. Our work typically arises where the facts are contested and the stakes are high — special investigations for supervisory boards and audit committees, allegations of financial misstatement, corruption and misappropriation, regulatory and criminal proceedings, and post-transaction disputes.

Where the evidence is actually assembled. You will do the analysis that findings rest on, with close support from senior colleagues.

Your Responsibilities

  • Carry out forensic analyses under the direction of senior colleagues.

  • Reconcile and reconstruct accounting records; test transactions, journal entries and reconciliations for indicators of manipulation.

  • Prepare, cleanse and analyse structured data from accounting and ERP systems, and unstructured data such as e-mail and chat.

  • Conduct document review in eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, and quality-check coding decisions.

  • Research corporate registries, public filings, court records and open sources.

  • Prepare working papers to an evidentiary standard — clear, complete, and capable of withstanding challenge.

  • Draft sections of deliverables and prepare exhibits, tables and charts.

Your Profile

  • Two to four years of relevant experience in audit, forensic services, internal audit, compliance, transaction services or data analytics.

  • A university degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, law, information systems, data science or a comparable subject.

  • Confident Excel skills and genuine interest in working with data. Exposure to SQL, Python, Alteryx or Relativity is an advantage but can also be learned here.

  • Precision and stamina. Investigations involve long stretches of detailed work where a small inconsistency can turn out to matter a great deal.

  • Discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Fluent German and English.

  • Willingness to travel within Germany and, on occasion, internationally.

What We Offer

  • Genuine investigative work from the start, rather than years of preparation for it.

  • A small team in build-up phase, which means visibility and responsibility sooner than in a large established practice.

  • Structured training, mentoring and funding for professional qualifications such as CFE, CPA, ACCA or other relevant qualifications.

  • Competitive salary with performance-related bonus.

  • Hybrid working and 30 days of annual leave.

How to Apply

Please send your CV, together with a brief note on your motivation and your earliest possible start date. Certificates and references are welcome but not required at first contact.

We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond within ten working days. All enquiries are treated in strict confidence — we are aware that candidates in this field often apply while in a sensitive current role.
