The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

Put your creative talents to work for saving species and supporting a beloved San Antonio non-profit attraction! The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Marketing Director and Marketing Manager by creating consumer demand through paid media channels for revenue-generating programs. Further responsibilities included developing awareness through earned and owned communication channels for our expertise in animal care, conservation, and education.

As a Marketing Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Support the Marketing Director and Marketing Manager by executing San Antonio Zoological Society’s digital and traditional marketing campaigns from conception to execution and evaluation.
  • Contribute to the zoo’s marketing channels by developing content for website, email, digital advertisement, and traditional marketing campaigns.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and analyzing paid digital marketing campaigns across internal and external platforms.
  • Contribute to the zoo’s email campaigns from strategy, content creation, and evaluation.
  • Create marketing campaign reports by collecting information from multiple sources that will aid in the development of marketing plans.
  • Facilitate marketing team’s digital and printed design request from submission to installation.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams such as admission, culinary, education, events, membership, and merchandise to determine appropriate marketing channels for zoo products, events, and additional revenue generating initiatives.
  • Support the organization's website presence on desktop and mobile environments to drive site traffic and online sales, enhance user experience, execute SEO and SEM strategies, and manage and maintain site content.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow Zoo Crew.
  • Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service.
  • Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist guests with questions and directions to various areas of the zoo.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout public areas by picking up and removing trash if you come across it on grounds.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related business field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of proven marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Preferred experience in tourism, hospitality or ticketed attractions.
  • Must have excellent communications skills; including writing, editing, and public speaking.
  • Possess strong knowledge of creative design- Photoshop/Canva and branding.
  • Possess strong knowledge of cloud-based content management systems.
  • Proficient in web design and landing page design in WordPress.
  • Execute paid social digital advertising campaigns.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of SEO and SEM strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects with both internal and external clients.
  • Must be enthusiastic in a demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operating office equipment.
  • Must be willing to learn new software as required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
  • We operate year-round, so all staff must be available during daytime hours and for occasional nighttime events, weekend activities, and special after-hours assignments.
