We are seeking an Information Technology Intern to join our IT Operations team for a three-month internship. This opportunity is designed for a student or recent graduate interested in gaining practical experience at the intersection of technology, network, data security, and business.
As an Information Technology Operations Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals supporting KONGSBERG’s U.S. technology infrastructure and day-to-day IT operations. You will gain hands-on exposure to end-user support, enterprise applications, endpoint and device management, systems administration, and the technologies and processes that enable secure and reliable operations across a global defense and technology company.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Information Technology Operations Intern will support the day-to-day technology operations that enable KONGSBERG US employees and business functions. Working approximately 30 hours per week for three months, the intern will contribute to end-user technology support, device deployment, systems administration activities, documentation, team projects, and department operations under the guidance of Information Technology team members.
This internship provides an opportunity to gain firsthand experience supporting technology within a professional business environment and develop an understanding of how IT infrastructure, Microsoft cloud services, endpoint management, cybersecurity practices, and user support work together to enable secure and reliable business operations.
You will work with a high-performing team that supports employees across the organization and collaborates with business leaders, technology vendors, cybersecurity professionals, and other internal stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with day-to-day IT operations and end-user technology support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, account, and connectivity issues.
- Support the setup, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and other end-user technology.
- Assist with user account administration, access requests, software deployment, device management, and other routine IT administrative activities.
- Support Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, and other enterprise applications used throughout the organization.
- Assist with maintaining IT documentation, equipment inventories, procedures, knowledge articles, and other operational records.
- Participate in technology deployments, system upgrades, equipment refreshes, and other IT projects and initiatives.
- Assist with troubleshooting and supporting conference room technology, printers, mobile devices, and other workplace technology.
- Support cybersecurity and compliance-related IT activities by following established security policies, access controls, and technology standards.
- Support special projects and day-to-day team operations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in information technology, systems administration, IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, or technical support.
- Strong technical troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive, confidential, or company information.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, networking concepts, computer hardware, or enterprise IT environments.
- Previous technical coursework, IT support experience, certifications, home lab experience, or participation in technology-related projects is a plus.
