This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, AI/ML based in Canada.

This role is part of a product-focused team building AI and machine learning capabilities on top of a healthcare data platform. You’ll help shape AI strategy while designing, implementing, and evaluating advanced solutions that address complex customer and healthcare data requirements. The position combines software engineering, AI architecture, experimentation, and hands-on development in an Agile environment. You’ll work with technologies spanning RAG, semantic matching, document parsing, agentic systems, knowledge graphs, and AI evaluation frameworks. The role also involves close collaboration through code reviews, pair programming, technical discussions, and client interactions when needed. It offers the opportunity to influence technical strategy while delivering scalable, maintainable AI capabilities with meaningful real-world impact.

• Act as the AI/ML subject matter expert within the team, staying current with emerging technologies, trends, and opportunities and applying relevant best practices to solutions.
• Help document and evolve the AI strategy, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps and broader business objectives.
• Contribute to project discovery and planning by defining scope, milestones, technical approaches, and solution architecture.
• Design and implement AI/ML solutions alongside the development team, including writing production code, configuring external components, and prototyping emerging technologies.
• Develop clean, maintainable code, comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and relevant technical documentation.
• Design and implement advanced AI capabilities such as semantic matching, retrieval-augmented generation, document parsing, and agentic workflows.
• Contribute to AI model evaluation, results testing, iterative refinement, and Human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, collaborative problem solving, and technical architecture discussions.
• Support the team by understanding the functionality being developed, helping manage priorities and deadlines, and contributing to the completion of project backlogs.
• Participate in product and technology meetings, contributing to technical processes, architecture decisions, and broader technology strategy.
• Participate in client meetings when required and help translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor team members and collaborate on technical architecture and solution design.

• 5+ years of experience in software architecture, full-stack development, AI engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Proven ability to design and document end-to-end software architectures for complex projects.
• At least 2 years of experience implementing advanced AI solutions, including semantic matching, RAG systems, and document parsing for structured content.
• Experience designing and deploying agentic systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or the OpenAI Agents SDK.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted coding platforms such as Claude Code and Codex.
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP), related tooling systems, model ensemble methods, and fine-tuning techniques.
• Experience with knowledge graph databases such as Neo4j or comparable technologies.
• Working knowledge of Apache ecosystem technologies such as Databricks, Spark, and Iceberg or related data workflows.
• Experience implementing Human-in-the-loop integrations within AI workflows.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks, testing model results, and applying iterative refinement techniques.
• Strong software engineering practices, including clean and modular coding, reusable internal libraries, testing, and documentation.
• Ability to understand and take ownership of all authored code, including code generated or co-authored using AI tools.
• Experience writing comprehensive unit and integration tests and accompanying technical documentation.
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to create clear documentation that supports developer onboarding and project contribution.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to own development components and deliver against strict deadlines.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and collaboratively developing technical architectures.

• Salary range of $125,000–$145,000 per year.
