Job Description
The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting production, warehouse, and logistics operations by safely receiving, storing, moving, and shipping materials throughout the facility. This position is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods while maintaining inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and efficient product flow. The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler works closely with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Success teams to ensure materials are available when needed and customer shipments are prepared accurately and on time.
This is a full-time, 1st shift position. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
- Receive incoming materials, ingredients, packaging components, and supplies.
- Verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and receiving documentation.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
Material Handling
- Move raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods throughout the facility as needed.
- Supply production lines with materials while maintaining production schedules and minimizing downtime.
- Operate forklift, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with staging materials and finished goods for production and shipment activities.
Warehouse Organization
- Maintain organized warehouse storage locations and staging areas.
- Properly label, store, and identify materials and finished goods.
- Ensure inventory is stored in designated locations and handle according to procedures.
- Keep warehouse, shipping, and receiving areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Success teams regarding materials availability and shipment status.
- Assist other warehouse and production team members as needed to meet operational goals.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, safety concerns, and equipment issues to leadership.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, efficiency, accuracy, and organization.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and material handling equipment and report any maintenance concerns.
- Maintain accurate records related to shipping, receiving, and inventory movement activities.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, material handling, or manufacturing environments.
- Forklift certification or the ability to become forklift certified required
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and warehouse processes.
- Ability to accurately complete shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
