ARL Network is an agent-based, asset-backed transportation network and third-party logistics provider. We operate more than 1,000 trucks across 50-plus agent terminals and 14-plus divisions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Risk Manager owns ARL Network’s predictive risk analytics platform and the risk program built on it. The position determines how driver risk is scored, what the intervention tiers are, what a coaching plan consists of, and what goals the program is accountable for.

The role reports to the Director of Risk and Claims and supervises the field risk function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Platform ownership

• Serve as the business owner of the predictive risk analytics platform, including scoring methodology, tier definitions, and escalation thresholds.

• Partner with the analytics team to define business requirements, reporting needs, and enhancement priorities.

• Validate scoring outputs and confirm data quality across telematics, hours of service, roadside inspection, and claims sources.

Program design

• Design and maintain the intervention framework, including coaching plans, safety improvement plans, and probation, and the criteria for entry and exit at each stage.

• Set program goals and the standards the field risk function is accountable for.

• Conduct post-loss analysis on significant and repeat events and translate findings into program change.

Team leadership

• Supervise the field risk function, assigning caseloads, setting intervention targets, and monitoring quality.

• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development.

• Train the team on score interpretation, documentation standards, and DOT and FMCSA requirements.

Monitoring and reporting

• Monitor CSA BASIC scores and roadside inspection outcomes and direct intervention where performance declines.

• Identify emerging risk concentrations by driver, terminal, agent, and division.

• Deliver monthly risk dashboard and exception reporting to the Director of Risk and Claims.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Five or more years in fleet safety, DOT compliance, transportation risk, or claims analysis, including experience directing the work of others.

• Experience building or maturing a data-driven safety or risk program, including defining scoring methodology and converting analytics into operational intervention.

• Ability to interpret telematics, hours of service, and roadside inspection data and convert it into structured action.

• Experience designing or administering structured performance improvement or corrective action programs.

• Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulation and CSA scoring methodology.

• Proficiency defining requirements for and working within a dashboard or business intelligence environment.

• Ability to gain cooperation from independent agents and terminal managers without direct authority over them.

Preferred

• Experience in an agent-based, owner-operator, or brokered transportation model.

• CDS, NATMI, or comparable safety certification.

• Bachelor’s degree; equivalent relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree.

DETAILS

Compensation: $96,000 – $124,000 base salary, depending on experience and scope.

Location: Moon Township, PA on a hybrid schedule, or remote.

Type: Full-time, exempt.
