Patient Care Support Assistant in Hannibal, Missouri at Hannibal Regional Hospital

The Patient Care Support Assistant (PCSA) is responsible for providing direct, non-clinical observation and support to assigned patients to promote safety, comfort, and a healing environment. This role may function as a one-to-one sitter, patient safety technician, or transporter in a variety of care settings. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the PCSA helps prevent patient injury, supports basic needs, and promptly reports any changes in patient condition or behavior.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Additional coursework or certification in patient care, behavioral health, or nursing assistance preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Previous healthcare or patient care experience is a plus
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong observation and situational awareness skills
• Ability to remain attentive and engaged for extended periods
• Compassion and empathy for patients
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices
