Overview

It is expected that the individual selected for this position will pursue the knowledge and qualifications required on all Docking Operations platforms and operations to assume the role of a Docking Supervisor, reporting to the General Foreman.

This position provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat’s business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced tradesperson to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain valuable experience to support their career development.

In this role the selected candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and overall direction to a team of Dock Crew Technicians (mechanics and electricians) who operate and maintain the Sea Shuttle Transport Barge, HOLLAND Transport Barge, Floating Dry Dock ATLAS, Graving Dock 1, Graving Dock 2, and Graving Dock 3 to include the caisson and launch pontoon. The ability to launch, dock and undock, and transport submarine sections by barge is critical to Electric Boat’s business. The Docking Operations team performs all of these functions.

The dedication and commitment to ensure procedural compliance is a vital trait of a successful candidate. Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily goals, provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor, and motivate the crew. Support department goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and continuous improvement.

Travel between Groton, Quonset Point, HII-NNS, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Philadelphia Naval shipyard is required for this position.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • 1+ years of EB docking experience
    • 3+ years of combined docking experience and leadership experience in a high-volume setting
    • 1+ years of EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related field
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift
  • Must be able to obtain or already possess a SECRET Security Clearance as a condition of employment
  • Must be able to obtain DBIDS credential

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership position.
  • 4+ years of docking experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a trade or engineering that interfaces with the Graving Docks, ATLAS, Holland and Sea Shuttle
  • Previous management experience desired
