Job Summary:
The Care Worker will supervise and support students on school premises before and after regular school hours. This role involves fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can thrive socially and academically. The ideal candidate is patient, caring, and attentive to the needs of school-aged children.
General Responsibilities:
Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program.
- Monitor and manage children during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Implement and enforce school and program rules to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Engagement and Interaction:
- Facilitate and engage children in recreational and educational activities, including games, arts and crafts, and homework assistance.
- Encourage positive social interactions and conflict resolution among students.
Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate incidents, injuries or safety concerns to parents/guardians.
- Report any incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to program supervisors and document as required.
Program Support:
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up program spaces.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and organize activities that meet the developmental needs of the children.
- Follow established schedules, routines, and guidelines set by the school or program director.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; relevant coursework in education or child
- Experience working with children in a school, daycare, or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check as required by the school/district (if 18+-years-old).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities with children for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and move equipment or supplies up to 30 pounds.
