Description:

The Program Specialist – Development portion of this combined role is responsible for supporting the Agency’s financial position and growth through specific solicitation of financial gifts and in-kind support from individuals, churches, and civic organizations. The primary function for the Associate Chaplain role is to provide spiritual guidance, leadership, and opportunities for worship and study for the residents and staff on duty. The PS-Development/Associate Chaplain should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Cultivate relationships within community via phone, visits, & written contact.
  2. Achieve minimum annual individual fundraising goal and contact goal as assigned.
  3. Prepare donor acknowledgment letters for major gifts.
  4. Assists with development of initiatives to cultivate new donors within region.
  5. Develop special major fundraising event geared to regional participation.
  6. Maintain accurate data concerning constituent contact and active solicitations in NXT system.
  7. Recruit, schedule, and manage on-site campus work groups.
  8. Coordinate and assist with weekly opportunities for worship for clients who cannot leave campus to attend community churches.
  9. Provide regular opportunities for religious education for all clients.
  10. Conduct spiritual assessments of clients as needed.
  11. Ensure Biblical content being taught to clients aligns with Baptist beliefs.
  12. Teach Bible/religious courses in campus schools as needed.
  13. Be available to clients and staff for guidance and direction in matters of faith and provide discipleship when appropriate.
  14. Provide pastoral care for clients and staff as available.
  15. Serve as client ombudsman.
  16. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other staff members resulting in positive program outcomes.
  17. Serve as liaison for the agency with other professionals involved with the program and coordinate with appropriate staff/volunteers involvement including program sponsors.
  18. Assist families in family care program connect with local churches as needed.
  19. Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
  20. Participate in PQI process for assigned program.
  21. Represent Agency in a variety of public events as appropriate and accept public speaking assignments as requested.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individuals, churches, and organizations with information regarding Agency programs.
  2. Lead training as assigned.
  3. Utilize spiritual assessment to assist with case consultation and recommendations for client spiritual goal development.
  4. Provide case consultation and in-service training, as appropriate.
  5. Provide on-call services as assigned and feasible.
  6. Participate with team in advocating for best interest of clients.
  7. Participate in supervisor’s meetings.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in religion/Divinity seminary preferred or Chaplaincy certification or working toward certification; experience in non-profit field in public relations, marketing, research, or sales, etc.
  2. At least 25 years of age
  3. Strong problem-solving skills.
  4. Must demonstrate initiative, be self-directed, work well independently.
  5. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Be an active member of a cooperating Southern Baptist church.
  7. Have the ability to manage time, set priorities and to organize and follow structured routines.
  8. Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications.
  9. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Agree to abide by all the policies, rules, guidelines and regulations of the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.

· Exhibit tactfulness and good judgment in dealing with people.

· Familiar with traditional Baptist tenets, customs and practices and shall maintain a compatible lifestyle.

· Utilize the Sanctuary Model of Care and conduct job responsibilities in a trauma-responsive manner.

· Exhibit the Core Values of Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.

· Meet all employee guidelines and qualifications as outlined by GBCH&FM license, contracts, and accreditation.

· Have the ability to work in partnership with other members in a team approach.

· Arrive to work on time and as scheduled.

· Achieve and accomplish annual goals assigned by supervisor or provide acceptable documentation as to why goals were not met.

· Understanding of confidential issues and protected information assigned under HIPAA.

· Complete staff development hours required within the program.

· Favorable MVR and fingerprint results as required.

· Maintain valid State Driver’s License as required.
