We are looking for a compassionate and driven leader to provide operational oversight for key revenue-cycle functions, including Expected Reimbursement, Cash Posting, and Denials, with responsibility for supporting accurate reimbursement, effective payment posting and reconciliation, denial prevention and resolution, and the timely collection of hospital and professional accounts. These functions are reflected across Patient Business Services and Hospital and Professional Billing operations, including reimbursement/appeals, cash posting, and denial management.

In this role, you’ll guide patients through important financial decisions with empathy and understanding, especially during moments that may be difficult or emotionally charged. Your leadership will help ensure that financial care remains a vital part of the overall healthcare experience we provide. This is a hybrid-remote position, open to candidates who reside in Oregon or Washington. The schedule includes on-site work at a designated Legacy Health location, with the flexibility to work remotely from home, on the road, or from a satellite office on other days of the week.



Responsibilities

Manager, Patient Business Services – Reimbursement

  • Manage daily operations of the hospital billing department in alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and goals.
  • Lead recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, and performance evaluation of billing staff.

  • Assess the technical and professional development needs of the team; provide or coordinate educational resources accordingly.

  • Assign workloads, monitor both quantity and quality of work, and set business priorities to meet organizational goals.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

  • Identify and resolve issues impacting billing services to maintain operational excellence.

  • Monitor and manage the department’s operating budget; approve expenditures and purchases in compliance with budget guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements related to billing operations and accreditation standards.



Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience required.

Experience:

  • Management experience with a thorough knowledge of operations, including staffing and scheduling, budget management, and workflow planning required.
  • Five years experience in supervision or management of accounts receivable in a health care environment, including experience in billing, collections, electronic billing systems and customer service required.
  • Proven expertise in payor management, with the ability to use data analytics to guide discussions and manage escalations effectively.

  • Experience with Epic systems and Accounts Receivable (AR) management is essential to ensure smooth billing operations and support financial stability.

Skills:

  • Strong skills in lean thinking and problem-solving to optimize billing workflows and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage a broad span of control through implementation of a self-directed team approach.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, and a willingness to lead by example.
  • Interpersonal skills to be sensitive to the patient's needs while communicating Legacy's needs.
  • Ability to work with insurances and regulatory agencies.
