Field Operations & Project Coordinator

Construction, Technology & Future Leadership Development Track

Synergy Fiber is seeking motivated, hands-on individuals who want more than a traditional desk job.

This position is ideal for people with professional aspirations who enjoy working with their hands, solving problems, and learning new skills. It combines technology, construction, project coordination, customer interaction, and career development into a unique opportunity that offers long-term growth in both the technology and building trades industries.

This role can be tailored to your strengths and experience. Much of what we do is taught through hands-on training and mentorship. Candidates with trade school training, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, military experience, or relevant industry experience may all be excellent fits.

This is a true hybrid role that bridges both the office and project management side of the business with the construction and field operations side.

Approximately 50% of your time will be spent in the field working alongside installation crews, contractors, customers, and project stakeholders.

This position may require up to 40% travel, depending on project assignments and business needs. Travel may include company vehicle travel and occasional air travel. A valid driver's license, willingness to travel, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are required.

Our goal is to develop future hands-on Project Managers, Operations Leaders, Designers, Estimators, Sales Engineers, and Technology Leaders within Synergy Fiber.

This role requires individuals who are willing to learn every aspect of installation work while also developing the skills needed to coordinate projects, manage teams, communicate with customers, and oversee subcontractors.

This position sits at the intersection of field operations and project management. Successful candidates enjoy learning, solving problems, and helping move projects from initial sale through successful completion.

Many leaders within Synergy Fiber work in similar hybrid roles. Some are more installation-focused, while others spend more time on project management and customer coordination, but all maintain exposure to both sides of the business.

Candidates must be comfortable using modern business tools, including Microsoft 365, Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and emerging AI technologies.

What You'll Do

Support Real-World Projects

Learn Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, project management platforms, and other business tools.Assist with planning, execution, and closeout of telecommunications and technology projects.Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.Track schedules, budgets, risks, and project milestones.Participate in customer meetings and project reviews.Help ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to Synergy Fiber quality standards.Gain Hands-On Field Experience

Work directly alongside field technicians, foremen, and construction teams.Learn construction sequencing, installation methods, and project workflows.Assist with installations and field activities.Help solve field issues and support project execution.Attend jobsite meetings, site surveys, and project walkthroughs.Develop a practical understanding of how projects move from design to completion.Build Technical & Design Expertise

Learn to interpret construction drawings, floor plans, risers, and specifications.Support estimating, design reviews, and solution development.Gain knowledge of structured cabling, telecommunications, networking, Wi-Fi, surveillance, access control, and smart building technologies.Develop the foundation for future industry certifications and technical leadership opportunities.Drive Technology & Innovation

Help implement AI-powered project management and operational tools.Assist with reporting, dashboards, and workflow automation initiatives.Participate in process improvement projects across the business.Help modernize how projects are managed, tracked, and delivered.Who We're Looking For

Location Requirements

This position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Candidates should reside within approximately 40 minutes of the Ann Arbor area to allow for efficient travel between our office, customer locations, and project sites.
