Cataract Pre-Admission RN in Southport, North Carolina at J Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital

PRN (as needed)

Organizes pre-operative charts according to hospital policy and physicians' orders, interviews with the patients, communicates with anesthesia any findings and assists with coordination of surgical scheduling to enhance efficiency.

Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

• Oversees intake to include an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to
  obtain their medical history
• Organize pre-operative chart according to hospital policy and physicians’ orders for tests before surgery
• Educate the patients on how to prepare for surgery, what to expect in surgery and their post-surgical care plan

Qualifications:
A. Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

B. Licensure/Certification

• Current NC license as a Registered Nurse
• Current BLS certification

C. Experience

• At least three (3) years of recent perioperative or five (5) years of Med-Surg experience
• Prior experience as a Discharge Planning Nurse or Utilization Review Nurse preferred

D. Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and walking
• Lifting – frequently up to 25 lb; occasionally up to 40 lbs
• Carrying – frequently 25 lbs
