Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to design, analyze, and evaluate structural systems for various construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that structures are safe, stable, and capable of withstanding anticipated loads while meeting all applicable codes and regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other structures
Perform structural analysis and calculations to determine load capacities and member sizing
Prepare structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Conduct site inspections and assessments of existing structures
Review and approve shop drawings and submittal documents
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and regulations (IBC, AISC, ACI, etc.)
Perform structural evaluations and feasibility studies
Design foundations, beams, columns, slabs, and other structural components
Analyze structures for various loading conditions (dead, live, wind, seismic, etc.)
Provide construction administration and support during project execution
Investigate structural failures and recommend remedial solutions
Prepare technical reports, calculations packages, and engineering documentation
Utilize structural analysis and design software for modeling and calculations
Stay current with industry standards, materials, and construction methods
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain
3-10 years of structural engineering experience
Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and design methodologies
Proficiency with structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, etc.)
Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Revit Structure, etc.)
Thorough understanding of building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, etc.)
Expertise in materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Master's degree in Structural Engineering
Structural Engineer (SE) license
Experience with [specific structure types: high-rise, industrial, bridges, etc.]
Knowledge of seismic design and retrofit techniques
Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
Background in construction management or field engineering
LEED AP or knowledge of sustainable design practices
Expertise in specialized areas (lateral systems, post-tensioned design, etc.)
