Job Summary
Microvast is seeking a Senior AIDC Battery System Manager join our team! Who can bring their fresh perspectives and experiences to the team. The position is 5 days in office, located at our headquarters in Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain lithium-ion battery systems for AIDC applications based on customer and market requirements.
- Define battery system architecture, technical specifications, system requirements, interfaces, and control strategies to ensure safe and reliable product performance.
- Support customer technical discussions, product selection, new application development, and technical issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional product development activities with mechanical, electrical, BMS/software, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
- Develop and execute battery system verification and validation (V&V) plans, including electrical, thermal, functional, safety, reliability, and environmental testing, and support product certification and release.
- Investigate technical, production, and field issues; perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO) and drive continuous improvements in product performance, reliability, quality, manufacturability, and cost.
- Prepare, maintain, and control technical documentation, including specifications, validation plans and reports, engineering drawings, interface documents, and change records.
- Monitor technology trends, customer needs, and industry standards, and contribute to the AIDC battery product roadmap and technology strategy.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience in lithium-ion battery system or battery pack development.
- Solid understanding of battery system architecture, battery pack design, BMS, high-voltage DC systems, thermal management, and power electronics interfaces.
- Experience with battery applications supporting high-power and mission-critical systems, such as UPS, power buffering, generator bridging, AI/data center power applications, or industrial energy storage.
- Familiarity with power conversion interfaces, including UPS, PCS, DC/DC converters, and HVDC systems (up to 800 VDC).
- Knowledge of battery performance characterization, including available power estimation, power derating strategies, power maps, and end-of-life (EOL) performance evaluation.
- Experience in developing and executing battery system validation plans, verification testing, and product qualification activities.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards and safety requirements, including UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NFPA 855, or equivalent battery energy storage standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a customer-focused engineering environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and engineering documentation
