This is an exciting opportunity to lead the technical vision for a critical integration platform powering next-generation healthcare technology. In this role, you will design scalable, reusable integration frameworks that connect complex clinical systems and enable seamless data exchange across healthcare environments. You'll collaborate with product teams, customers, and external partners to solve real-world interoperability challenges while helping accelerate customer deployments. As a senior technical leader, you will drive engineering best practices, mentor fellow engineers, and shape the future of integration architecture. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who enjoys tackling complex backend systems, healthcare interoperability, and platform engineering in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
- Design, develop, and maintain real-time integration solutions connecting clinical systems, including PACS, EHRs, worklists, and reporting platforms using modern interoperability standards and file-based integrations.
- Architect and evolve a scalable integration platform built on reusable components that simplify onboarding new customers and technology partners.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to define integration strategies, evaluate technical feasibility, and deliver scalable interoperability solutions.
- Expand integration capabilities to support emerging healthcare technologies, analytics platforms, clinical AI applications, and other third-party systems.
- Partner directly with customers, vendors, hospital IT teams, and external stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot workflows, support implementations, and ensure successful production deployments.
- Drive standardization by transforming custom customer implementations into reusable integration frameworks and connectors.
- Build and maintain robust observability, monitoring, logging, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities to ensure integration reliability and simplify issue resolution.
- Lead technical investigations, resolve complex integration challenges across distributed systems, document best practices, and mentor engineers across the team.
- Extensive experience as a backend-focused software engineer with strong full-stack capabilities and a passion for healthcare integrations.
- Strong proficiency with technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, React, Electron, or similar modern development frameworks.
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and operating production-grade cloud services and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience working with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIRcast, SMART on FHIR, FHIR, HL7, DICOM, or comparable healthcare integration technologies.
- Proven track record delivering production integrations with third-party clinical systems and designing scalable, reusable integration platforms.
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and technical partners to solve interoperability challenges.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions.
- Experience with radiology systems, PACS, Epic integrations, legacy clinical integration methods, or participation in IHE Connectathons and implementation of IHE profiles is considered a strong advantage.
