K2 is seeking a Data Entry Specialist to support our clinic out of Winter Garden, FL in a full-time capacity.
The Data Entry Specialist in the Clinical Research industry plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient and organizational data. This position involves meticulously entering, updating, and maintaining sensitive health records and administrative information within electronic databases and health information systems. The specialist will collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to verify data accuracy and support compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. By managing data efficiently, the role directly contributes to the smooth operation of healthcare services and supports informed decision-making across departments. Ultimately, the Data Entry Specialist helps maintain high-quality data that underpins patient care, billing, and reporting processes within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately input patient information, medical records, and administrative data into electronic health record (EHR) systems and databases on a daily basis.
- Review and verify data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy, correcting errors or discrepancies as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to clarify and obtain missing or incomplete information.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive patient and organizational data in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Generate and prepare reports related to data entry activities and assist in audits or quality assurance processes.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong organizational and technical skills daily to manage large volumes of sensitive healthcare data accurately.
- Attention to detail is essential to identify and correct errors, ensuring data integrity that supports patient care and billing processes.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and data entry software enables efficient handling of complex medical records and administrative information.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to resolve data discrepancies and clarify information.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements guides the specialist in maintaining compliance and protecting patient privacy throughout all data management activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data entry or administrative support, preferably within a healthcare or social assistance setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency with data entry software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Typing speed of 60+ words per minute with high accuracy.
- Certification in medical coding or health information technology.
