Our Medicaid Specialists serve as vital contributors to the Medicaid planning team, focusing on foundational casework, client support, and documentation management. This role is ideal for professionals who are developing their expertise in Medicaid eligibility, long-term care planning, and client advocacy. As you grow in the position, you will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to handle increasingly complex matters and play a larger role in strategy and planning. The Medicaid Specialist role lays the groundwork for continued professional development within the Medicaid department, with opportunities to take on more advanced responsibilities over time.
Job Responsibilities
Client Assessment and Intake: Support initial consultations by conducting preliminary assessments, helping clients and their families understand Medicaid eligibility, and collecting relevant financial and personal information to begin case development.
Documentation Support and Case Organization: Assist with the collection, review, and organization of documentation required for Medicaid applications, ensuring materials are accurate, complete, and timely to support more experienced specialists and attorneys.
Application Preparation Assistance: Help prepare Medicaid applications under supervision, learning the requirements for state and federal compliance. Begin developing skills to identify potential obstacles in the application process.
Client Communication: Serve as a compassionate and reliable point of contact for clients at the early stages of their planning journey. Provide regular updates and communicate with empathy, escalating complex questions to more senior team members as needed.
Process Monitoring and Case Progress: Maintain accurate internal records and follow up on outstanding tasks to ensure forward movement of each case. Learn and follow established workflows and timelines for consistent case handling.
Team Collaboration and Learning: Participate actively in team meetings and strategy discussions. Shadow and learn from Senior Medicaid Specialist team members to develop advanced planning, strategy, and client management skills.
Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative assistance including case file updates, accurate data entry, and professional document preparation to support the success of the Medicaid team.
Confidentiality and Compliance: Adhere to legal, ethical, and procedural requirements in all aspects of client service, always maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by firm leadership to support departmental operations and organizational objectives.
