NeoGenomics is looking for a Director of Specimen Acquisition & Data Management who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is hybrid position to work out of the laboratory in Aliso Viejo, CA with a Monday – Friday, day shift.

Position Summary:
As the Director, Specimen Acquisition & Data Management you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end logistical and technical process of acquiring, identifying, and managing biological samples. You will drive process changes around sample acquisition and management and seeks continuous improvement in managing sample needs within the Office of Innovation. You will also work closely internally with R&D and laboratory operations and externally with pharma and clinical laboratories to ensure that organizational values are followed and departmental goals are attained.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for end-to-end handling of biological samples for R&D, including data and systems management of specimens (inventory control and quality checks), operational oversight for labeling and processing, compliance with NeoGenomics regulatory and quality processes, and coordination of logistics and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of samples to projects
- Establishes sample acquisition and sample management processes within Neo
- Serves as primary source of specimen tracking information for Office of Innovation biospecimen needs
- Continually develops relationships with external partners that support Neo specimen needs
- Supervises staff and daily operations of the Neo Specimen Archive
- Manages data flows across multiple external vendors and enables reports to ensure biospecimens are tracked along the journey from collection to final disposition
- Collaborates with internal and external resources including R&D, Pharma, and Clinical Laboratories to ensure consistent delivery of samples to meet project needs
- Builds, promotes, and develops a strong service culture and dedication to personalized service to ensure client satisfaction
- Contributes to the development of internal systems which support the work of the assigned business functions; defines needs and coordinates the development of manual and/or automated systems to facilitate workflow; remains current on hardware and software capabilities and ensures employees are trained in the use of automated equipment or new programs
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Biology or equivalent work experience required
- 10 or more years of experience with 5 or more years of management experience in a clinical or academic laboratory is required, with CLIA/CAP and FDA regulations required
- Provide enterprise expertise in biospecimen management and specimen metadata standards, ensuring scalability, compliance, and strategic alignment
- Maintain advanced exposure to biomarkers and translational research applications supporting clinical and operational decision-making
- Lead strategic vendor development and enterprise vendor management, driving performance, accountability, and long-term partnership value
- Exercise executive-level judgment and decision-making under high-pressure and ambiguous situations
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, driving alignment to organizational goals and measurable outcomes
- Drive consistent achievement of high-performance standards in quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Apply deep knowledge of medical terminology and advanced proficiency in laboratory information systems to optimize workflows and data integrity
- Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and executive communication skills to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization and with external partners
