Responsibilities

The Associate, Business Planning & Governance is an experienced executive partner who helps Hines leaders turn strategic priorities into coordinated action, measurable outcomes, and operating improvements. Working with the Director, Business Planning & Governance and the Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise, this role functions as an operating partner on enterprise initiatives, bringing structure to ambiguous problems, aligning stakeholders, driving decisions, and owning work from initial definition through execution.

This role requires a strong analytical and operational mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to build effective relationships across levels, teams, and regions. The role will prepare executive-level analysis and materials, manage governance and reporting for the firm’s Committees, and serve as a connective tissue across functions for leaders to make informed decisions, enabling Hines to execute with speed, discipline, and accountability.

This is a high-impact role for a top-performing, highly motivated professional who combines strong business judgment, executive presence, and a demonstrated ability to deliver results in complex environments.

Executive Partnership, Governance & Reporting

  • Own the end-to-end development of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and meeting materials for the firm's Committees, including synthesizing inputs, identifying issues and decisions, coordinating reviews, and driving timely closeout of actions.
  • Draft executive communications and decision materials for the dissemination of Committee outcomes and other enterprise priorities.
  • Support the planning and execution of Committee retreats/offsites and other executive leadership meetings, ensuring objectives, agendas, pre-reads, logistics, and follow-up actions are tightly coordinated.
  • Manage and continuously improve the firm's governance site and related governance collateral.

Enterprise Business Planning & Execution

  • Operationalize the firm's annual strategic planning process by building practical playbooks, presentation templates, governance routines, and guidance that help business units plan, execute, and report consistently.
  • Lead selected cross-functional projects from problem definition through implementation, partnering with leaders across the firm to deliver operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools and management routines that track progress against the firm's strategic objectives, highlight risks, and support accountability.
  • Develop executive-level presentations, analyses, and recommendations that communicate outcomes, surface tradeoffs, and enable leadership decisions on business priorities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations, Strategy, or a related field from an accredited institution required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate governance, or a related field; experience supporting C-suite or enterprise-wide initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex projects end-to-end, including defining the problem, building the plan, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, managing dependencies, driving decisions, and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and deliver plans, decisions, and results with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional project/program management skills, including the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and drive cross-functional initiatives with trust.
  • Highest degree of professionalism and discretion, with excellent judgment and resourcefulness.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, AI tools (ChatGPT), and other productivity, collaboration, and project management tools.
  • Unwavering commitment to integrity, Hines' Guiding Principles, and Leadership Principles.
