Position Title: IT Intern- Temporary Role, TCAT Students Only

6 Month Temporary Role, No Benefits

$15/ hour, 24 hours/ week

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Assist with help desk calls, scheduling, and tickets. Basic end-user support to prevent customer service delays for basic technical issues. Under IT staff guidance, perform computer imaging, staging and installation. Assist in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation.
  • Under direct supervision of a team leader, incumbents participate in an internship program in the Department of Information Technology and are given assignments at incremental levels of complexity as they gain proficiency in various functions, such as: web research, system analysis, programming, installation of software, configuration of hardware, etc. This position enables college students currently or recently enrolled in an approved program to receive technical training and gain practical experience. Does related work as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education
  • Associates Degree preferred; or currently enrolled in Computer Science or related field.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Understanding of operating systems, software installation and test procedures, security and operational requirements and clinical and financial systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support and resolution for basic hardware, network, software, and application problems.
  • Evaluates and/or escalates calls for urgency, complexity, and organizational impact when technical support and resolution fail.
  • Responsible for recording all user inquiries, from initial call to incident resolution using our services desk system.
  • Ensure that the computer environment is secure, clean, and all maintenance and shift turnover procedures are followed.
  • Provides excellent customer service and develops client relationships through follow-up and client contacts.
  • Help create and expand the knowledge database through documentation of day-to-day problems.
  • Recommends or continuously adds to and updates procedural and resolution information within the help desk software.
  • Uses software and hardware pertinent to the detection and resolution of desktop computers and network problems.
  • Adheres to established department and organizational security policies.
  • Performs preventative maintenance as specified by the device manufacturer’s standards.
  • Ensures all housekeeping and maintenance functions are performed in a timely and scheduled manner.
  • Communicate effectively with other shifts to ensure a smooth shift transition.
  • Resets user’s passwords ensuring that ETCH standards for strong passwords are followed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
