Compensation: $70,000 – $85,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

We're seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join a small engineering team supporting an enterprise technology modernization initiative focused on enterprise data, reporting, system integrations, and future artificial intelligence capabilities.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an early-career software engineer to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced architects and senior engineers while contributing to real-world enterprise software development projects.
You'll participate in every phase of the software development lifecycle while receiving mentorship from senior members of the engineering team and expanding your technical skills across modern software development technologies.
What You'll Do
- Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise software applications.
- Develop backend services and RESTful APIs under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with development of ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes supporting enterprise data integration.
- Write SQL queries and assist with database development activities.
- Participate in application testing, debugging, and defect resolution.
- Assist with software integration between enterprise systems.
- Participate in code reviews and apply feedback from senior engineers.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in Agile planning, sprint activities, and daily team collaboration.
- Learn and apply modern software engineering practices, development standards, and coding conventions.
- Collaborate with architects, senior engineers, and business stakeholders throughout the project.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience.
- Experience programming in Java or Python through coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional experience.
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and work collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience in software development.
- Experience with React or modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Exposure to Python, FastAPI, Java Spring Boot, or similar backend frameworks.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar relational databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing.
- Experience with personal, academic, or open-source software projects.
