About this Opportunity:
We are seeking Tool Maker I and Tool Maker II candidates to build, repair, and troubleshoot new and existing tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges in support of quality and production requirements.
Candidates may be considered for Tool Maker I or Tool Maker II based on their experience, qualifications, and demonstrated level of proficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Build new tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges from blueprints within established standards and customer specifications.
- Repair and troubleshoot existing tooling, dies, and fixtures to blueprint specifications within established standards.
- Operate production equipment when necessary, including presses, feeders, straighteners, and similar equipment.
- Analyze tooling issues and provide input during troubleshooting.
- Inspect work and verify quality using a variety of measurement equipment.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records and update design changes in accordance with established shop standards.
- Ensure on-time deliveries within specified design parameters and tooling budgets.
- Analyze and improve machining methods to reduce costs and improve quality.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment by following 6S standards.
- Follow all H&M procedures and policies.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with job hazard analyses (JHAs) and job requirements. Protective footwear must comply with ASTM F2413 and ASTM F2412 standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, including the Idea System.
- Design and build small tools and fixtures to blueprint specifications and established standards.
- Function as a project leader as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Tool Maker I: Minimum of 3 years of experience building and troubleshooting progressive dies required.
- Tool Maker II: 5 years of experience as a State of Connecticut Tool and Die Maker Journeyman preferred, along with experience building and troubleshooting progressive dies.
- High school diploma or vocational technical school diploma preferred.
- State of Connecticut Tool and Die Maker Journeyman certification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic trigonometry and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Availability to work Saturday mornings when required.
