Overview

The Machine Shop Supervisor leads a team of Machinists within a large-scale production facility, overseeing the effective deployment of personnel, equipment, and resources. This position emphasizes disciplined execution, problem-solving, and continuous process improvement to achieve operational and financial objectives. This position is assigned to the 2nd shift, with a schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

Operations & Execution

  • Execute established operational procedures to ensure consistent and reliable production performance.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of work to meet delivery commitments.
  • Manage personnel assignments, equipment availability, and tooling readiness to sustain operational effectiveness.
  • Assign and supervise work activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and precision tolerances.
  • Interpret engineering requirements and coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical or process issues.
  • Analyze production demand and develop resource plans (personnel, equipment, tooling, and materials) to meet operational requirements.

Resource & Financial Stewardship

  • Support adherence to budget and cost-control measures while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Identify inefficiencies, production constraints, and risks; implement corrective actions to improve performance and throughput.
  • Assist with reporting, audits, and tracking of operational metrics to ensure accountability and performance alignment.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
  • Provide clear directions, coaching, and feedback to ensure personnel are trained and equipped to meet expectations.
  • Promote a safe, disciplined, and mission-focused work environment.
  • Drive performance management processes, ensuring goals are clearly communicated and achieved.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Lead initiatives to improve workflow, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and enhance performance.
  • Support line balancing, production flow improvements, and process standardization efforts.



Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or related operations (military leadership experience equivalent). Proven ability to lead teams, manage resources, and execute in high-paced environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, high degree of ownership, and accountability in decision-making.
  • Proven experience with process improvement; Lean principles and workflow optimization preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to train, coach, influence, and motivate personnel while maintaining high accountability and performance standards.
  • This position is assigned to the 2nd shift, with a schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Preferred:

  • Good understanding of CNC machining processes, equipment, and technical workflows.
  • Execute established operational procedures to ensure consistent and reliable production performance.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure on-time completion of work to meet delivery commitments.
  • Manage workforce assignments, equipment readiness, and tooling availability.
  • Assign and supervise work while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and precision tolerances.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical or process issues.
